9 Best Mexican Restaurants in Singapore 2026: $5 Taco Tuesdays, $10 Margaritas and a Rooftop Pool

Mexico's Independence Day falls on Wednesday 16 September, and Singapore's taco scene is better value than its menu prices suggest, provided you go on the right day. We read nine menus and promotions pages on 11 September 2026. Tuesday is the day that matters: Vatos sells tacos at $5++ each all day, El Chido makes them 1-for-1 with any alcoholic drink on a rooftop where visitors can use the infinity pool, and Papi's Tacos gives you a third taco free at dinner in Tanjong Pagar. Lucha Loco and Papi's both pour $10 margaritas in the afternoon. The cheapest full plate is Huevos, three tacos from $20.90 off its own ordering menu. None of the nine had posted a 16 September special on its own site when we checked, and Chipotle, which had been expected here this year, has pushed its Singapore opening to 2027.

Papi's Tacos: The All-Rounder, With $10 Drinks Until 7pm and a Free Third Taco on Tuesdays

Papi's is the Mexican kitchen most people in Singapore end up at, and it has grown to four shops: the original at 39 Seah Street, 33 Tanjong Pagar Road #01-01, 450 Joo Chiat Road in Katong and 149 Tyrwhitt Road in Jalan Besar. The kitchen is led by executive chef Mauricio Espinoza, who is from Tlaxcala, and the menu stays close to the classics. On the Tanjong Pagar menu, tacos run from $14 for the mushroom Los Hongos to $18 for house-smoked brisket suadero, with chicken at $15, fish or prawn at $16 and pork belly or chorizo at $17. Quesabirria with smoked chilli broth is $28, burritos are $18 to $22 and quesadillas $16 to $20. The Papi's Platter (the three signature dips plus eight tacos) is listed at $69 against $84. The deals are what put it first. Happy hour is daily from 12pm to 7pm with $10 drink specials, frozen margaritas and Mexican lagers included, and Monday at Tanjong Pagar is Margarita Monday, with $10 frozen margaritas all night. On Tuesdays, Tanjong Pagar gives you three tacos for the price of two, at dinner only. The brand's 27 August blog also lists a Wednesday ladies' night at Tanjong Pagar and kids eating free at weekends in Jalan Besar with an adult purchase. Tanjong Pagar opens 12pm to 2.30pm and 5pm to 11pm on weekdays, and from 11am at weekends. BEST FOR: a first Mexican dinner, or after-work margaritas.

Lucha Loco: Duxton Hill's Taqueria and Mezcal Bar, With $10++ Margaritas From 3pm to 7pm

Lucha Loco is a taqueria and mezcal bar with outdoor seating at 15 Duxton Hill, run by the Super Loco Group, which also owns Super Loco at Robertson Quay and Customs House and Chico Loco on Amoy Street. The menu is modern Mexican with a long mezcal list, and the room is at its best on a Friday night. What makes it worth planning around is El Loco Hour, from 3pm to 7pm. The current El Loco Hour menu puts a frozen lime mezcal margarita at $10 (other flavours $2 more), a bottle of Corona at $10 or $45 for a bucket, house red and white and single pours of gin, vodka and dark rum at $10, and draught and craft lagers from $12. The restaurant sums it up as margaritas, beers and wine at $10++. Opening hours are 11.30am to 11pm Monday to Thursday and 11.30am to 12.30am on Friday and Saturday. It is closed on Sunday, so the Sunday crowd goes to Super Loco Robertson Quay (60 Robertson Quay #01-13), which opens at 8am on Sundays for brunch and also runs an El Loco Hour. Book through SevenRooms or on +65 8798 1035. BEST FOR: margaritas outdoors, or a group that wants a lively room.

El Chido: Rooftop Tacos at Pullman Hill Street, 1-for-1 on Tuesdays and a Pool Visitors Can Use

El Chido sits on the rooftop of Pullman Singapore Hill Street at 1 Hill Street and cooks Mexican with global and Asian twists: tacos, guacamole, sliders and a bar built around mezcal, tequila and cocktails. The rooftop reopened on 26 June 2026 with an all-weather cover and a retractable roof over the dining and bar areas, so rain no longer cancels the evening. The detail that surprises people is the infinity pool: the hotel says visitors, not only hotel guests, are welcome to swim while they eat and drink, with shower facilities included. The deal is Taco Tuesdays, every Tuesday from 12pm to 10pm. Tacos are 1-for-1 with the purchase of any alcoholic drink, dine-in only, and only items under the menu's TACOS section count. Reservations are encouraged, and no-shows or cancellations made after 12pm the day before are charged $20 per person. Card and membership discounts run alongside: Accor+ Explorer members get 30% off food and 15% off alcoholic drinks, and DBS/POSB and OCBC cardholders get 15% off selected food, dine-in only. Hours are 12pm to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 12pm to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and it is adults-only from 6pm. BEST FOR: a Tuesday date with a skyline view, or a lazy afternoon by the pool.

Huevos: The Best-Value Plate, Three Tacos From $20.90 and No Booking Needed

Huevos says it wants Mexican food to be affordable, and its own ordering menu backs that up. Tacos come in sets of three: carnitas pork, chipotle chicken, al pastor and cauliflower are $20.90, Baja fish, Impossible chorizo and the not-Baja are $22.90, and birria beef, carne asada and tacos gobernador are $23.90. Soft-shell crab tacos are $26.90 for two. Loaded nachos are $24.90, birria fries $27.90, enchiladas $23.90, elotes $14.90 and churros $11.90, and there is a kids quesadilla at $16.90. A frozen margarita is $15.90, or $55 for a jug, against $88 for a jug at Margarita's. There are two shops: the original at 803 North Bridge Road and a River Valley branch in New Bahru's School Block, #01-16, 46 and 58 Kim Yam Road. Both open daily. Reservations are taken Tuesday to Thursday only and walk-ins are welcome every day, so a weekend visit can mean a queue. No promotion is running, and at these prices it does not need one. BEST FOR: a cheap, full Mexican dinner with friends.

Nixta: Amoy Street's Grown-Up Mexican, Built on Heirloom Corn Masa

Nixta is the most chef-driven kitchen on this list, and the name is a clue: nixtamalisation is the old process of soaking corn in lime that turns it into masa, and Nixta's menu is built on heirloom corn masa and handmade corn tortillas. It sits at 116 Amoy Street, and the menu reads more like a restaurant than a taqueria. The August 2026 menu has a Tlayuda de la Casa at $29 (add Maine lobster for $16), a blue crab tlayuda at $35, quesadillas at $26, tuna tostadas at $16 each and a taco platter at $36 (two tacos with green rice and black beans). The big plates are wagyu rib-eye Cadillac fajitas at $52 and a spit-roasted chicken at $42. For a cheaper way in, the September lunch menu (Monday to Friday) has a taco plate at $34 with duck barbacoa, Kurobuta pork belly al pastor or butternut squash and kale, plus a $4 add-on for a soft drink, iced tea or coffee. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 5pm to 7pm; Nixta posts that menu as an image without text prices, so ask when you book. Its site also lists a Mexico City Sunday brunch from 11am to 2.30pm. Book by WhatsApp on 9673 6420. BEST FOR: a business lunch, or a dinner where the food is the point.

Vatos does Korean-Mexican, and its current home is City House at 36 Robinson Road #01-01. The menu is the reason to come: galbi tacos, kimchi carnitas fries, Nacho Mama's nachos with queso, black beans, guacamole and pico de gallo, a Korean set of grilled BBQ chicken with ssam, kimchi and rice, and a menudo beef tripe soup done the Korean way. It also has the best-organised weekly deal sheet in this guide. Monday is a taco platter of six tacos and two Coronas for $50++. Tuesday is Taco Tuesday, with tacos at $5++ each all day, the lowest per-taco price here. Happy hour runs every weekday until 7pm, Korean bar bites (anju) are served from 3pm, and on Saturday the site says ordering any alcoholic drink unlocks its free-flow taco deal; ask for the price and time limit before you commit. Margarita's: Dempsey's Old-Timer, Freshly Reopened After a Two-Month Renovation

Margarita's describes itself as Southeast Asia's oldest Mexican restaurant, with close to four decades in Singapore, and it has just come back from a renovation: it closed from 1 July to 31 August 2026, and its site now says it is officially open. It is at 11 Dempsey Road #01-19, which makes it the easiest Mexican meal to pair with an afternoon at Dempsey Hill. The menu is a sit-down one. Starters include elote with tajín and cotija at $18, chips and guacamole at $18, queso fundido with tequila-spiked chorizo at $26 and crab croquetas at $28. Nixtamalised tacos come two to a plate, with birria at $26, camarón at $26 and soft-shell crab at $30. The showpiece is a 250g carne asada striploin at $58. The bar is the other half of the name: frozen lime, strawberry, mango and pink guava mint margaritas are $19 a glass or $88 a jug, and the house Grand Margarita (tequila reposado, Grand Marnier, lime and agave) is $21. No promotion is posted. Book on OpenTable or call 6471 3228. BEST FOR: a family lunch or a birthday dinner at Dempsey.

Chimichanga: Six Outlets, the Easiest to Find, and a Free Kids Meal at VivoCity

Chimichanga is the Mexican chain you are most likely to walk past. It has six outlets: Raffles City #01-17A, VivoCity #01-157/158, Holland Piazza at 3 Lorong Liput #01-02/03, PLQ Mall #01-37 in Paya Lebar, and two under the Chimi's name, at 313@somerset #01-25B and Customs House (Chimi's Especial, on the waterfront at 70 Collyer Quay #01-01). The brand dates to 2016 and the rooms share the same look, posters on the walls and the donkey logo on everything. Most outlets open 12pm to 11pm on weekdays and stay open to midnight on Friday and the eve of public holidays, while some split into lunch (11.30am to 2.30pm) and dinner (5pm to 10.30pm), so check the outlet page before a late visit. Chimichanga does not publish prices on its own site. The one live deal we found is at VivoCity: VivoCity Kids Club members get a free kids meal with a $50 minimum spend, one redemption per table per bill, valid to 31 December 2026, and Kids Club members also get a free kids meal in their birthday month. Its DBS/POSB 15% food discount ended on 31 May. BEST FOR: families, and a Mexican meal in a mall you are already in.

Guzman y Gomez: The Fast Option, and a $3 Brekkie Burrito on the 3rd of Every Month

GYG is the quick-service answer on this list, a burrito, bowl and nachos chain where you order at the counter or in its app. It earns a place for one reason: the $3 Brekkie Burrito, which GYG has turned into a monthly fixture. On the 3rd of every calendar month, a breakfast burrito that normally costs $7 is $3 from opening until 10.30am, for dine-in, takeaway and GYG app orders, with a per-member limit on app orders. Delivery orders do not count, it is while stocks last, and four outlets are excluded: Pasir Ris Mall, Our Tampines Hub, Hillion Mall and ION Orchard. The next two dates are Saturday 3 October and Tuesday 3 November. Outside those mornings breakfast still runs until 10.30am daily, and GYG runs other one-day deals through the month (a $6 Minis day on 6 September, for example), so the app is worth keeping. BEST FOR: breakfast on the way to work, or a quick burrito when a sit-down meal is not the plan.

$3 Brekkie Burrito (usually $7) on the 3rd of every month, opening to 10.30am; dine-in, takeaway and app. Not at Pasir Ris Mall, Our Tampines Hub, Hillion Mall or ION

  • Tuesday: Vatos, $5++ tacos all day. El Chido, tacos 1-for-1 with any alcoholic drink, 12pm to 10pm. Papi's Tanjong Pagar, three tacos for the price of two at dinner.

Mexican Independence Day, 16 September

Mexico marks its independence on 16 September, with the Grito the night before, and this year it falls on a Wednesday. When we checked on 11 September, none of these nine had posted a special for it on its own website, so treat the standing deals as the plan: Tuesday 15 September is Taco Tuesday at Vatos, El Chido and Papi's Tanjong Pagar, and on Wednesday itself Papi's Tanjong Pagar runs its ladies' night. If a restaurant announces an Independence Day menu on its social pages later in the week, it will be on top of these, not instead of them.

Chipotle is not coming this year

Chipotle had been reported as opening its first Singapore store near Bugis in 2026. It has since confirmed a 2027 Singapore debut through a joint venture with South Korea's Sangmidang Holdings, as reported by Eatbook, and opened its first Asian restaurant in Seoul on 2 September 2026 instead. No address or date has been announced.

How we checked

Menus, prices, hours and promotions were read off each brand's own pages on 11 September 2026: papis-tacos.com (Tanjong Pagar menu and the 27 August blog), super-loco.com (Lucha Loco and Robertson Quay pages, El Loco Hour menu PDF), pullmansingaporehillstreet.com (El Chido and its Taco Tuesdays offer page), huevos.oddle.me (Huevos' ordering menu), nixta.sg (August 2026 main menu and September 2026 lunch menu PDFs), vatossg.com (promotions page), margaritasrestaurante.com (menu PDF), chimichanga.sg and vivocity.com.sg (outlets and the Kids Club offer), and GYG's own campaign banner. Restaurants change prices and deals without notice, so confirm before you go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get cheap tacos in Singapore on a Tuesday?

Three places run a Tuesday taco deal, checked on 11 September 2026. Vatos Kitchen & Bar at 36 Robinson Road sells tacos at $5++ each, all day. El Chido on the rooftop of Pullman Singapore Hill Street makes tacos 1-for-1 with any alcoholic drink from 12pm to 10pm, dine-in only. Papi's Tacos at 33 Tanjong Pagar Road gives three tacos for the price of two, at dinner only. None of the three publishes an end date for these deals.

Which Mexican restaurants in Singapore have the best margarita happy hour?

Lucha Loco at 15 Duxton Hill runs El Loco Hour from 3pm to 7pm, with a frozen lime mezcal margarita at $10 (other flavours $12), plus Corona, house wine and spirits at $10; it is closed on Sunday. Papi's Tacos runs happy hour daily from 12pm to 7pm with $10 drink specials at its outlets, and its Tanjong Pagar shop has $10 frozen margaritas all night on Monday. Nixta on Amoy Street has a happy hour Monday to Friday from 5pm to 7pm, and Vatos runs one every weekday until 7pm. Without a happy hour, Huevos sells a frozen margarita at $15.90 or $55 a jug, and Margarita's at Dempsey charges $19 a glass or $88 a jug.

Is Chipotle open in Singapore?

No. Chipotle was earlier reported to be opening near Bugis in 2026, but it has since confirmed that its first Singapore restaurant will open in 2027, through a joint venture with South Korea's Sangmidang Holdings, as reported by Eatbook. Its first restaurant in Asia opened in Seoul on 2 September 2026. No Singapore address or opening date has been announced. For a similar build-your-own burrito or bowl today, Guzman y Gomez is the closest equivalent, and it sells its breakfast burrito for $3 on the 3rd of every month until 10.30am.

Chimichanga at VivoCity gives VivoCity Kids Club members a free kids meal with a $50 minimum spend, one per table per bill, until 31 December 2026, and a free kids meal in the member's birthday month. Papi's Tacos lists kids eating free at weekends at its Jalan Besar outlet with an adult purchase. Huevos has a kids quesadilla at $16.90, and Super Loco at Robertson Quay has an all-day kids menu. Avoid El Chido in the evening: the rooftop is adults-only from 6pm.

Are there Mexican Independence Day specials in Singapore on 16 September 2026?

Not from these nine, as of 11 September 2026: none had posted an Independence Day menu or offer on its own website. Mexican Independence Day falls on Wednesday 16 September this year, so the day before is a Tuesday, when Vatos sells $5++ tacos, El Chido runs 1-for-1 tacos with an alcoholic drink and Papi's Tanjong Pagar gives three tacos for the price of two at dinner. Watch the restaurants' social pages during the week for anything announced late.
