SKAI, the restaurant on the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford, has handed its afternoon tea to Disney and Pixar's Toy Story until 30 November 2026. 'You've Got A Friend In Me' is ten pieces plus a scone, each named after a character: Mr. Potato Head as a Comté gougère with N25 caviar, Slinky Dog as a wagyu smokie in pretzel brioche, Woody as a 66% chocolate, Lotso as a strawberry shortcake and the Aliens as a matcha mandarin choux, plus a themed alcohol-free cocktail, TWG tea or coffee. It is S$78++ per adult and S$39++ per child aged 6 to 12, which is S$93.52 and S$46.76 once the 10% service charge and 9% GST go on, so two adults and two children pay S$280.56. Read the three menus side by side, though, and the children's set is not the adult set at half price: it drops Hamm, Lotso and the Aliens, so a child gets eight pieces against an adult's eleven. The vegetarian version keeps all ten and swaps ingredients instead. Daily 12.15pm to 5.30pm with a two-hour limit and last seatings at 3.30pm, reservations required. There is a Toy Story room package too, but the high tea is not included in it, and its 'priority reservation' does not guarantee you a table.

Jack's Place has a kids' menu at $3++ against a usual price of $8.80, and its own poster carries two conditions that every deal listing has dropped. The first is that the $3++ is an add-on, not a standalone: it applies only when an adult at the table orders an a la carte or promotional main course, and the restaurant's own terms then rule out the Set Lunch, which is the cheapest adult main on the menu. The second is the calendar. This is a weekday deal, Monday to Friday all day, which for most of the year is the one window when school-going children cannot use it. The 5 to 13 September school holidays are the exception, and they hand families five qualifying weekdays from Monday 7 to Friday 11 September. Three dishes sit at $3++ (Spaghetti Beef Bolognese, Chicken Nuggets & Fries, Kids' Fish & Chips), every kids' meal comes with apple juice and a single scoop of ice cream, and a $5++ tier (U.P. $10.80) buys a Minute Striploin Steak with Chicken Chipolata Sausages. After the 10% service charge and 9% GST the $3++ plate lands at about $3.60 against $10.55, so roughly $6.95 a child a visit. The deal is dine-in only, for children under 10, at the 12 outlets on the brand's own locations page, and eves of and public holidays are out, along with special occasions: the poster names Children's Day, which falls on Friday 2 October 2026.

Every HDB household has $400 of Climate Vouchers sitting in an app, and a washing machine is one of the few things worth spending them on. The condition is a 4-tick water efficiency rating, and that rules out more machines than you would think: of the 1,510 clothes washing machines on PUB's register, 83 carry 2 ticks, 747 carry 3, and only 680 carry 4. The extras are where the schools separate: Middleton asks S$1,454 and nothing more, while UWCSEA adds S$627 application, S$4,992 enrolment and a S$9,537 first-year Development Levy, so S$15,156 before a single lesson. That levy is the one nobody quotes, because it does not stop: it drops to S$5,166 but is charged every year after. The result is a reversal. UWCSEA has the lowest sticker tuition of the five premium schools here (S$40,743 for Grades 2 to 5, below Tanglin's S$45,375 and CIS's S$41,840), yet it lands eighth of nine on first-year cash at S$55,899. Open house season is the reason to read this now: applications for the August 2027 intake are opening, UWCSEA's Open House runs 2 September to 2 October, CIS holds one every Tuesday morning to 8 October, AIS opens the campus on Saturday 12 September, and Tanglin, Stamford, SJI International and IFS all have dated sessions between 18 September and 5 November.

Singapore is the first stop outside China for Panda Planet Immersive Experience, presented by CCTV.com's iPanda channel, running at River Wonders from 4 to 14 September 2026, 9am to 6pm daily with last entry at 5pm. It sits just outside the Pavilion Capital Giant Panda Forest, splits into a science zone, a Kai Kai and Jia Jia birthday zone and a mixed reality bamboo forest, and costs nothing beyond park admission. The birthday celebrations are the draw: Jia Jia's on Saturday 5 September and Kai Kai's on Sunday 13 September, both at 12pm, both included. The useful part is the pricing. River Wonders charges peak rates on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only, and MOE school holidays are explicitly not a peak trigger there, so the weekdays in the middle of the break, 7 to 11 September, stay at the local rate of S$35 an adult and S$26 a child rather than S$40 and S$29. Both birthday parties fall on peak days, which puts a family of four at S$138 on a party day against S$122 on a school holiday weekday. Neither party is on the actual birthday either: Jia Jia turned 18 on 3 September and Kai Kai turns 19 on 14 September, the exhibition's last day. And Le Le, whom the birthday zone updates you on, has been back in China since January 2024.
