Italian is the one cuisine in Singapore where the price gap is enormous and almost nobody explains it. A full set lunch at Peperoni Pizzeria is $22.90. A six-course dinner at one-MICHELIN-star Buona Terra starts at $248++. In between sits the most interesting thing to happen to Italian food here this year: Assaggi, opened in August 2026 on Neil Road by Buona Terra's own Chef Denis Lucchi, serving a tasting menu at $88++ and an express lunch at $58++. We read all nine menus, opening-hour pages and promotion terms off the restaurants' own websites on 2 September 2026, checked PastaMania's halal status against the MUIS register rather than repeating a brand claim, and listed every dated deal we could verify.
Italian in Singapore runs from a $22.90 set lunch to a $248++ tasting menu, and the gap is mostly about format, not quality.
> Quick view: cheapest full meal is Peperoni Pizzeria at $22.90 (Mon to Thu). Best-value tasting menu is Assaggi at $88++, from the chef behind one-starred Buona Terra. PastaMania is the only halal-certified name here.
How we checked, 2 September 2026
Every price, opening hour and promotion above was read off the restaurant's own website, menu PDF or ordering site on 2 September 2026, not lifted from other roundups. Where a restaurant published two different sets of hours, we took the more specific page: Publico's homepage describes weekday lunch as running to 5pm while its What's On page dates it 12pm to 3pm, so we used the latter. Cicheti's prices come from its own ordering site, which is the only place the brand publishes numbers, so a dine-in bill may differ slightly. PastaMania's halal status was checked against the MUIS register rather than the brand's own wording, and all 16 Singapore premises came back certified.
One thing we did not do: repeat an award we could not source. La Bottega Enoteca's ranking is the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific 2026 list published in March 2026, and Buona Terra's star is from the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2026 released on 4 August. Buona Terra's own website still displays a 2025 MICHELIN badge, which is a design lag rather than a demotion.
What an Italian meal in Singapore actually costs
The spread on this list is the widest of any cuisine we have priced, and it splits into four clear bands.
- Under $25 a head. Peperoni's All Day Set Menu at $22.90 for four items, and PastaMania, where a set meal lands under $15 before drinks. Both are weekday-shaped: Peperoni's set is Monday to Thursday, PastaMania's senior discount is Mondays.
- $30 to $50 a head. The mid-market sweet spot. Cicheti's 3-pizza bundle at $78 for a table of three, Locanda's $24 to $32 pastas, Publico's $32++ weekday lunch and Pasta Bar's $45++ set lunch all sit here. This is where Singapore's Italian scene is strongest.
- $88++ to $100++. Assaggi's tasting menus at $88++ and Locanda's $98++ Signature. Assaggi is the better deal of the two on a per-course basis, and it is the only tasting menu here that finishes inside 90 minutes.
- $128++ and up. Buona Terra only. Lunch at $128++ for four courses is the cheapest way into a one-star Italian kitchen in Singapore; dinner from $248++ is a different kind of evening.
Remember that every '++' price gains roughly 20% by the time GST and service charge land, so Buona Terra's $248++ dinner is about $298 a head, and Pasta Bar's $45++ lunch is about $54.
Which one to book, by occasion
- A milestone dinner: Buona Terra, and take the corkage one-for-one if you have a bottle worth opening.
- A tasting menu on a weeknight: Assaggi, $88++, done in 90 minutes.
- Pasta, specifically: Pasta Bar for the 14 doughs, or Locanda for the ragu and the large-format seafood spaghetti.
- Pizza, specifically: La Bottega Enoteca if you can book it, Cicheti if you cannot, and Peperoni if the table has kids.
- A group of four to six: Locanda's large-format plates or Cicheti's Family Feast at $188.
- Dogs, drinks and a long afternoon: Publico, where the free flow is $48++ and the garden is pet-friendly.
- A halal table: PastaMania, the only certified name on this list.
- A Monday: Pasta Bar, Locanda, Cicheti, Publico, Peperoni and PastaMania all open. Buona Terra opens for lunch and dinner but Assaggi is closed.
The halal question, answered properly
Italian food is a hard cuisine to eat halal in Singapore, because pork sits at the centre of it: guanciale in a carbonara, 'nduja on a pizza, speck and mortadella on a salumi board. Of the nine restaurants here, only PastaMania holds MUIS certification, and it holds it at every one of its 16 Singapore premises. Certification is granted per premises and can be withdrawn, so if it matters for your household, check the outlet's displayed certificate or search halal.muis.gov.sg rather than trusting a blog post, this one included.
Booking notes worth knowing before you call
- Buona Terra takes bookings for up to six through TableCheck with a $100 card authorisation, forfeited if you cancel inside 48 hours. Larger parties go through WhatsApp on +65 9456 3147.
- Assaggi also uses TableCheck; parties above six email info@assaggi.sg.
- La Bottega Enoteca takes bookings on WhatsApp at +65 9071 8400, and its lunch service only runs Friday to Sunday.
- Locanda is closed on Tuesday and dinner-only on Wednesday, which is the most common wasted trip on this list.
- Publico is fully cashless. Bring a card or a phone.
- Peperoni's set menu is not valid with other promotions, so decide before you order which discount you are using.
