If you only want the single best cafe in Singapore, it is Apartment Coffee on Selegie Road: the only SG entry on The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026, ranked No.6 globally and No.1 in Asia for the second year running, though it opens Friday to Tuesday only, 10am-4.30pm, and is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. The rest spread across specialty roasters (Common Man, Nylon, Sarnies), brunch-cafe hybrids (PS.Cafe, Wild Honey, Atlas Coffeehouse), and heritage gems (Chye Seng Huat Hardware, The Coffee Academics). Cost range: S$5-8 for a flat white; S$18-38 for cafe brunch mains, and at Common Man, Chye Seng Huat and Sarnies those are pre-GST, pre-service-charge menu prices. Best for: digital nomad work-from-cafe, weekend morning catch-up, post-lunch coffee dates, specialty coffee discovery.

The SG specialty-coffee anchor that other roasters benchmark against, tiny space (~10 seats), focused entirely on the coffee, almost no food. Founded by Dylan Yu + team in 2012. MENU: espresso S$4.50, flat white S$5.50, V60 single-origin S$6-8, batch brew S$5; retail beans come in 300g bags, not the 250g everyone quotes: S$26 for the Colombia El Pinal and Juan Martin espressos, S$28.50 for the Brazil Nossa Senhora Aparecida, or S$73.70-80.75 per kilo. NOTE: Mandarin Gallery is still Wild Honey's ONLY outlet. The South Beach branch closed in 2022, and although Scotts Square photos and reviews linger in the site's gallery, the 'Our Venue' menu lists Mandarin Gallery alone (re-checked 9 September 2026), so don't turn up at Scotts Road. WORK-FROM-CAFE friendly on quieter weekday mornings (it fills up at weekends).SIGNATURE DISHES: creamy scrambled eggs on sourdough, buttermilk waffles with crispy fried chicken, and the smoked salmon bowl. Wild Honey is down to one, Apartment Coffee has moved out of the CBD, and The Coffee Academics no longer has an Orchard presence.

Check the day before you go: Apartment trades Friday to Tuesday, 10am-4.30pm, and is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays, the shortest week on this list. Its own site publishes no hours at all; the one "Opening Hours" link on apartmentcoffee.co points at its Google listing, which is where ours come from.
The caveat matters though: that ranking is about the coffee, not the hang. Apartment is a small focused tasting room with a short food menu and no laptop culture, so budget 45 minutes for a pour-over rather than a morning. If you want a cafe to actually sit in, the answer changes by use case.

The trap: the two headline picks have the two shortest weeks. Apartment Coffee is shut Wednesday and Thursday, and Chye Seng Huat's breakfast menu stops at 4pm even though the room stays open to 9.30pm. Wild Honey's Friday and Saturday last order also moved back to 9pm, half an hour earlier than most guides say.

If you want an answer backed by something other than opinion: APARTMENT COFFEE, 139 Selegie Road. It is the only Singapore cafe on The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026 list, ranked 6th in the world and 1st in Asia for the second year running (it held the same No.6 position in 2025). That ranking is about the coffee itself, single-origin filter, direct-sourced green beans from Colombia and Rwanda, founder Yeo Qing He is the 2018 Singapore Brewers Cup champion. IMPORTANT CAVEAT: 'best coffee' and 'best cafe to actually spend a morning in' are different questions. Apartment is a small, focused tasting space with a short food menu and no laptop culture. Go for a 45-minute pour-over, not a working session. If what you want is BEST ALL-ROUND CAFE EXPERIENCE, the answer changes by use case: best work-from-cafe = Common Man Coffee Roasters (Martin Road); best heritage setting + best food = Chye Seng Huat Hardware (Tyrwhitt Road); best CBD specialty = Sarnies (Telok Ayer); best neighbourhood brunch = Atlas Coffeehouse (Duke's Road); best SG-iconic occasion = PS.Cafe (Harding Road, though it is closed for renovation until further notice, so Palais Renaissance in the meantime).
