Orchard Road is lighting up for Christmas again. Christmas on A Great Street, the street's 43rd Christmas light-up, switches on on Tuesday 17 November 2026 and stays on until Sunday 3 January 2027. This year's theme is Season of Golden Joy, and the Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) has added a Marvel Avengers Christmas tree, a giant Santa-hatted Merli and a bigger carnival.

What's new this year
- Marvel Avengers Christmas tree at the Ngee Ann City village, tied to the December release of *Avengers: Doomsday*. Avengers display pieces with stamp standees run from 12 November, so you can collect stamps along a Marvel trail.
- A 6.2m inflatable Merli in a Santa hat on top of Shaw House, lit nightly from 6.30pm to 6.30am. It keeps its normal look from 4 January to 20 February 2027.
- LEGO Christmas pop-up, 13 November to 22 December, plus a LEGO workshop inside the village.
- Two Kiztopia Christmas villages with pinball, claw machines, a balloon shooting range and the Mastercard Train, and food from Birds of Paradise, CHAGEE, ASA Brew and The Grocer Bar by FairPrice Finest.
The five photo spots
ORBA lists five lit installations along the 3.1km stretch:
- Steps of Golden Joy, in front of Shaw House Urban Plaza
- Gateway to Golden Joy, the arch in front of ION Orchard
- A Golden Christmas Moment, a framed scene of glowing trees
- Meet Me Under the Mistletoe, in front of Ngee Ann City
- The Golden Christmas Tree, in front of Mandarin Gallery
Christmas village hours
The Ngee Ann City village opens 3pm-10pm daily, until 10.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays in December, and 3pm-1am on 24 December. Catch the snowfall at the Hitachi Santa House at 8pm and 9pm every night. On weekends there are live performances at 7.15pm, 8.15pm and 9.15pm.
Carnival games use a Kiztopia carnival card. Prices when you pay by Mastercard:
| Carnival card (Mastercard) | Credits |
|---|---|
| New card S$35 | 35 |
| New card S$50 | 70 |
| New card S$100 | 150 |
| Top-up S$30 / S$50 / S$100 | 45 / 75 / 160 |
The bonus credits make the S$50 and S$100 tiers the better buys if your kids will play more than a few games.
Christmas Eve Street Party
Orchard Road closes to traffic from 6pm to 2am on Thursday 24 December between Paterson and Bideford junctions. The party runs 8pm to 12.15am, headlined by Benjamin Kheng and Maia Lee, with DJ sets, mascots and food trucks, and *SCAPE's Sleigh the Street! (street dance, graffiti and circus acts). Benjamin Kheng closes the night and leads the countdown to Christmas Day. The Hilton projection show also runs late, to 12.30am, on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Mastercard rewards
- Locals: from 13 November to 20 December, the first 100 Mastercard shoppers each week who spend at least S$400 at any of 11 participating malls get S$30 in mall vouchers. The malls are 313@somerset, Forum The Shopping Mall, ION Orchard, Mandarin Gallery, Ngee Ann City/Takashimaya, Orchard Central, orchardgateway, Palais Renaissance, Paragon, Plaza Singapura, The Centrepoint and Wisma Atria (one of these is excluded from the local tier; check the T&Cs on the official site).
- Tourists with an overseas-issued Mastercard get S$40 in vouchers on S$400, plus a new Orchard Road Tourist Pass (S$60 in vouchers, S$30 of carnival credits and a foldable bag) for a 3-night stay at a participating hotel or S$1,000 spend, limited to the first 1,000 redemptions.
What it means for you
The lights are free, so the cheapest plan is a weeknight walk from ION to Shaw House after 7pm, timed for the 8pm or 9pm snowfall. Weekends in December will be packed, especially Christmas Eve, when the road closure means you should take the MRT to Orchard or Somerset. If you are doing year-end shopping at the malls anyway, a single S$400 receipt early in the week gives you the best shot at the S$30 vouchers, since only 100 are given out each week.
Dates, hours and mechanics are from ORBA's official Christmas on A Great Street site (christmas.orchardroad.org), checked 30 October 2026. Hours can change, so check the site before a special trip.
