Soup Restaurant turns 35 this week, and it is celebrating with 35% off its Signature Samsui Ginger Chicken for five weekdays, Monday 14 to Friday 18 September 2026. It is the dish the chain was built on in 1991, so the discount lands on the plate most tables order anyway. The catch is in the poster's small print.

The offer
- One small plate at 35% off. The website headline just says 35% off the Signature Samsui Ginger Chicken, but the campaign poster reads "Samsui Ginger Chicken (S)" and its fine print limits it to one portion of small Samsui Ginger Chicken per table, per bill.
- Five weekdays. Monday 14 to Friday 18 September. There is no public holiday that week, so every day of the run counts.
- Dine-in only, while stocks last, with the 10% service charge and GST on top.

Prices are from Soup Restaurant's own à la carte menus, and the till may round the discounted figure slightly differently. The large plate ($45.90++) and the Samsui Chicken Combo, a small chicken with a medium soup of the day at $43.90++, are not covered.
Fine print
- Small portion only, one per table per bill. Splitting the bill for a second plate is not allowed.
- Not valid with any other promotion, discount voucher or discount card. That rules out the Early Bird discount and both OCBC offers (1-for-1 vegetable dishes with a $50 minimum spend, and $7.90 double-boiled soup).
- Weekdays only, dine-in only, while stocks last.
- Hougang Mall is closed for renovation until the end of September 2026, per Soup Restaurant's contact page.
Birthday deal or Early Bird? Do the maths
Because the two cannot be combined, the birthday deal is not automatically the best price. It saves about $8.37++ on one small chicken. Soup Restaurant's standing Early Bird discount takes money off the whole order instead:
- 20% off on weekdays 11.30am-12.29pm and 5pm-6.29pm beats the birthday deal once your food comes to more than about $42++.
- 25% off on weekdays 2.30pm-4.59pm at Clementi, NEX, Suntec, The Star Vista and VivoCity beats it past about $34++.
- 35% off on weekdays 2.30pm-4.59pm at Teahouse IMM and Century Square already matches the birthday rate on every dish, not just the chicken.
Early Bird excludes drinks, condiments and towels, and it does not run at Paragon or Jewel Changi. So the birthday deal is the one to use at those two outlets, at peak lunch (12.30pm-2.30pm) and at dinner after 6.30pm, or when it is just one or two of you having the chicken with rice.
Tips
- Two people, one chicken, peak hour: this is where the deal shines. A small plate with rice and a vegetable is a full lunch for two.
- A bigger table: order everything else, then ask staff whether Early Bird on the whole bill works out better. It usually will past three dishes.
- Holland Village and United Square close 2.30pm-5pm on weekdays, so a late lunch there is not an option.
- Take the sauce home. Samsui Ginger, Sambal and XO bottled sauces are 50% off their $6.90 price (about $3.45) at Soup Restaurant outlets until 30 September, while stocks last.
- What comes next: TheSmartLocal reports a second anniversary phase, 35% off four new dishes from 21 September to 31 October. It is not on Soup Restaurant's own promotions page yet, so treat it as unconfirmed.
