Gyu-Kaku has under two weeks left in Singapore. The Japanese yakiniku chain announced on 3 November 2026 that its CHIJMES restaurant will close permanently, with the last day of operation on Sunday 15 November. CHIJMES is the only outlet left on its Singapore locations page.

What's happening

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of Gyu-Kaku Chijmes," the brand wrote in its notice. It did not give a reason, and it did not say whether it plans to return.

The closure ends a long retreat. The Straits Times counts four other closures in 2026: Waterway Point on 9 March, Kinex on 31 March, The Star Vista on 1 May and VivoCity on 28 September. UE Square, The Centrepoint and Novena Square closed in 2025. The chain still runs outside Singapore, including in the US, Canada and Hong Kong, according to the same report.

Use your rewards card now

This is the part that costs you money if you miss it. The notice says all rewards can be redeemed until 15 November 2026. These are the terms printed on the card shown in the notice:

Chops collectedReward
101 free serving of Pork Belly
151 free serving of Gyu-Kaku Karubi
2020% off the bill, capped at $200
  • You earn one chop for every $20 spent on a single receipt.
  • Redemption needs a minimum spend of $50 and is for dine-in customers only.
  • Rewards are not valid on buffets. To use them, order from the à la carte menu.
  • You cannot split bills or tables for the 20% off, or combine two or more incomplete cards.

Cards normally carry a three-month expiry printed on them. The notice does not say whether an already-expired card will be honoured, so check with the restaurant before you plan a meal around one. It also says nothing about gift vouchers. If you hold any, call 6333 4001 now.

Getting there

Gyu-Kaku CHIJMES is at 30 Victoria Street #01-01/02, Singapore 187996. Listed hours are Monday to Friday 12pm-3pm (last order 2.30pm) and 5.30pm-10pm (last order 9.30pm), and weekends and public holidays 12pm-10pm (last order 9.30pm). The notice does not mention shorter hours on the final day, but last weekends tend to fill up, so we would book ahead by phone rather than walk in.

Where to go after 15 November

Our yakiniku guide has the alternatives with prices read off each brand's own menu. Tenkaichi at Marina Square is the cheapest full buffet at $29.80++ Monday to Thursday, and Tajimaya at Great World runs a charcoal wagyu buffet from $59.90++ at lunch.
