Sengkang gets a Japanese bakery on Monday, and it arrives with three days of cheap bread attached.
> Quick view: Gokoku Japanese Bakery opens at The Seletar Mall, #01-48. Opening Special runs Mon 21 to Wed 23 September 2026: any 4 breads at $10. Gokoku's own poster prices that as "worth up to $13.60", which is a ceiling and not a usual price, so the saving depends on which four you pick. Every qualifying receipt also gets one spin on a sure-win wheel showing a 20% off voucher with no minimum spend, a 1-for-1 Coronet and a free tote bag. The poster's fine print: one spin per qualifying receipt, while stocks last.
What is actually opening
Gokoku Japanese Bakery is a Kobe bakery brand with bread production heritage going back to 1961, run in Singapore by RE&S. The Seletar Mall listing makes it #01-48, and the mall's own shop directory files it under September 2026, alongside the notes that the store accepts mall vouchers and earns Great Rewards points.
That takes Gokoku to 12 Singapore locations on its own store list: Bukit Panjang Plaza, CapitaSpring, Great World, Guoco Tower, Jurong Point, NEX, Northpoint City, Parkway Parade, Tampines Mall, The Seletar Mall, VivoCity and Wisma Atria. For the Sengkang and Fernvale side of the north-east, this is the first one that is not a bus or train ride away.

Every deal listing carrying this has written the value up as "U.P. $13.60" and told you the saving is $3.60. Gokoku's own artwork does not say that. It says worth up to $13.60, and the two phrases are not the same thing.
"Up to" means $13.60 is the ceiling, which is what four of the dearest eligible buns come to. That works out to roughly $3.40 a bun. Pick four at that price and you save the full $3.60, about 26% off. Pick four cheaper everyday buns and the bundle still costs $10, so the saving shrinks. There is a point below which four buns would have cost you less bought individually.
The annoying part is that you cannot check this before you go. Gokoku does not publish a price list on gokoku.com.sg, so the only place to see what each bun costs is the tray in front of you. The practical move is simple: build the $10 bundle out of the four most expensive things on the rack, not the four you would have bought anyway.
The spin is per receipt, not per bundle
This is the second thing the deal listings got wrong. They say each bundle purchase earns a spin. The poster says "Limited to 1 spin per qualifying receipt."
So two bundles rung up together is one spin, not two. If you are going with someone and you both want a go at the wheel, pay separately. It costs nothing and doubles your chances at the voucher.
The voucher is the prize worth wanting
The wheel shows three prizes: a 20% off voucher with no minimum spend, a 1-for-1 Coronet (Gokoku's cream-filled pastry horn), and a free tote bag. Deal listings and the brand's announcement say the 20% voucher is valid at any RE&S brand. The poster itself prints only "20% OFF VOUCHER (NO MIN. SPEND)" and does not name the brands, so check the scope printed on the voucher you are handed.
If it really is RE&S-wide, it is worth many times the bread. RE&S lists 20 brands in Singapore, including Ichiban Boshi, Ichiban Sushi, Shimbashi Soba, Kuriya Japanese Market, Kuriya Dining, Mister Donut, Idaten Udon, Ramen Kiou, Sushi Go, Yakiniku-Go, Wadori, Haku Sushi, Tsukimi Hamburg and Charcoal Grill Shinpachi. 20% off a family dinner at Ichiban Boshi dwarfs a $3.60 saving on buns, and there is no minimum spend attached.
The listings also say "and more" about the wheel, so there may be segments beyond the three pictured.
Before you go
- It is three days only, 21 to 23 September, and all three are weekdays. There is no weekend on this one.
- "While stocks last" applies to the spin prizes. A wheel on an opening Monday tends to run out of the good segments before Wednesday, so earlier is better.
- Bring the receipt to the counter for the spin rather than assuming it is handed over automatically.
- Prices and terms are Gokoku's to change. Nothing here is on a page you can re-check, because the campaign lives on the brand's artwork, not on gokoku.com.sg.

*Dates, the $10 bundle price, the "worth up to $13.60" wording, the three wheel prizes and the "1 spin per qualifying receipt, while stocks last" fine print are all read directly off Gokoku Japanese Bakery's own Opening Special campaign artwork for The Seletar Mall, published 19 September 2026. Unit number #01-48, the September 2026 tenancy date, mall voucher acceptance and Great Rewards eligibility are from The Seletar Mall's own shop directory page for Gokoku Japanese Bakery (theseletarmall.com.sg), checked 19 September 2026 against a nonsense-slug control that returned a real 404. The 12-outlet Singapore store list is from gokoku.com.sg, and the 20-brand RE&S list is from res.com.sg, both checked the same day. The claim that the 20% voucher works at any RE&S brand comes from the brand's announcement as carried on deal listings and is not printed on the poster, so confirm it on the voucher itself. Gokoku publishes no price list, so individual bun prices could not be verified. Cover image: Gokoku Japanese Bakery official Opening Special campaign artwork.*
