The best outdoor pick, and the one dads talk about afterwards. Adventures Network runs a guided mangrove paddle through Pulau Ubin's backwaters at S$110 per person, covering kayak, paddle, life vest and a small-group guide. Budget about 4 hours door to door, of which roughly 2 are on the water. Departures run at 9:00am or 1:30pm. Meeting point is 34 Pulau Ubin, a one-minute walk from the jetty, reached via the Changi Point ferry (about 10 minutes, roughly S$3 to S$5 each way; boats leave once 12 passengers are aboard, so allow waiting time). Two booking conditions most write-ups leave out: the programme needs a minimum of two adults to operate at all, so one parent plus one child cannot book it alone, and children aged 7 to 12 pay the same S$110 as adults, so there is no family rate waiting further down the page. Children must be at least 7 and paddle with an adult, covered shoes are mandatory, and a flotation test is run before you launch. Bring a change of clothes and sunblock; everything else is provided.

The most fun per dollar on this list, and the entry most guides now get wrong. Axe Factor has run Singapore's first and only axe throwing range since 2018, but it is no longer at The Grandstand on Turf Club Road. It now operates from 2 Gunner Lane, Mess Hall Sentosa #02-04/05, S099567, across six lanes, with a safety briefing and competitive scoring. Sentosa's own attraction listing and the operator's contact page both give the hours as 10am to 8pm, closed every Monday. Pricing is quoted per group for a 1-hour session and the per-head cost falls the bigger your party: S$41.42 each for one or two people, S$39.97 at three, S$39.51 at four, and about S$38.70 each at ten, all inclusive of 9% GST. A 2-hour session works out to roughly S$73 to S$81 per person on the same sliding scale. The booking platform takes up to 15 people for a 1-hour slot and up to 25 for 2 hours; split larger groups across multiple bookings. Budget for island entry on top: the Sentosa Express from VivoCity is a one-time S$4, or S$2 on a senior, disability or student concession card, and free for children under 7 with an adult. Alight at Imbiah and walk to Mess Hall, or take Sentosa Bus A or B to Village Hotel. Bookings are strongly preferred, as walk-ins are not guaranteed a lane. Check the age rule before you bring the kids: the operator's FAQ sets a minimum age of 15, throwers under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver, closed-toe shoes are compulsory, and everyone must bring valid ID for verification. Surprisingly accessible for first-timers, and most groups land their first stick within five throws.

For the speed-loving dad, but check which rate you are actually booking. Legion of Racers runs Race Box, a dedicated sim racing studio at 2 Kallang Avenue #06-01, CT Hub, S339407, with five rigs: four Core setups (Fanatec GT DD or Logitech wheel base, 34-inch monitor) and one Premium flagship (Fanatec DD1, Heusinkveld Sprint pedals, 49-inch ultrawide). The S$25 an hour figure that most guides quote is the student rate. On the studio's own live booking calendar, an adult pays S$32 an hour on a Core rig and S$65 an hour on the Premium rig, with students at S$55 on the Premium. That still makes the Core rigs the cheapest serious sim racing hour in Singapore, but it is not the S$25 you were promised elsewhere. Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 1pm to 8pm and Saturday to Sunday 11am to 6pm, closed Mondays, and the online calendar blocks today and tomorrow, so plan at least two days out. They run Assetto Corsa Competizione, Gran Turismo 7 and F1 2025, chosen per session, and the studio says about half of its walk-in guests have never used a rig. The cheapest option here, and the best one for mixed-age families. LOST SG sits at GR.iD, 1 Selegie Road #B1-03/04, S188306, a short walk from Dhoby Ghaut, Bencoolen and Little India MRT, with five private themed rooms, all now running as 2.0 editions: Alcatraz, Aokigahara, Castiglione, Exodus and Mausoleum. Each takes up to 12 players, but only Castiglione 2.0 and Mausoleum 2.0 accept a pair; the other three need at least three. Sessions run 60 minutes at S$23.90 per person off-peak (weekdays 10:00am to 5:30pm), rising to S$29.90 at peak, which covers weekends in full, weekday slots from 5:45pm, and public holidays and their eves all day. The venue itself runs daily 10am to 10:30pm. There is no upfront payment, you settle at the outlet before your game starts, and LOST SG does not take cash, so bring a card, PayNow or GrabPay. Kids aged 6 and under go free with a paying adult; under-12s need adult supervision. The alternative is Captivate Escape Rooms at Singapore Shopping Centre #06-28, right by Dhoby Ghaut MRT Exit B, with eight purpose-built rooms at S$25 per person on weekdays and S$32 from Friday to Sunday. One catch if it is just the two of you: groups of two can book only five of Captivate's eight rooms, against just two of LOST SG's five (Wednesday Addams, Murder on the Singapore Express, Steampunk Prison Break, Hansel & Gretel, or CSI), while groups of three or more can book any of them. Captivate also runs a small standing perk, a free can of Coke for anyone booking online for a Monday to Thursday start between 6pm and 8pm, excluding public holidays and their eves. Weekend slots at both venues fill by Friday afternoon, and some rooms carry age recommendations for scarier themes.

The most refined pick, and the one whose address most guides still get wrong, the bar's own booking page included. The Auld Alliance holds one of the world's largest whisky collections at around 1,500 bottles, plus Armagnac, Cognac, rum, Calvados and a curated wine list, and was founded by Emmanuel Dron in 2010. After stints at CHIJMES and then the Rendezvous Hotel, it moved in December 2025 to Capitol Singapore. Its own About page gives the address as 15 Stamford Road #01-62, S178906, while Capitol's directory lists the building itself as 13 Stamford Road, so quote the unit number and postcode to a taxi driver. Anything still pointing you to Bras Basah is out of date, and that includes the bar's own Book a Table page, which at the time of writing still shows the old Rendezvous Hotel address at 9 Bras Basah Road and the old 4pm to 10.30pm hours. The bar opens Wednesday to Monday from 5pm to midnight, closed Tuesdays, and takes reservations through Chope. Drams are ordered a la carte across the list rather than as a fixed flight, so you can scale the evening from an approachable Speyside to a serious vintage bottling and let the staff walk you through it. Best for dads who already drink whisky but never stray beyond their usual one or two brands.

Singapore follows the international date, the third Sunday of June every year. It is not a gazetted public holiday, so shops, restaurants and attractions all keep normal Sunday hours.
