Kok Sen has put its three best-known dishes into one set and priced it at $40++ instead of $48 for the whole of September 2026. The set is Claypot Yong Tau Foo, Big Prawn Hor Fun and Stir-Fry Spinach with Garlic, sized for 2 to 3 people, and it works for dine-in and takeaway.
> Quick view: $40++ (U.P. $48) · 3 signature dishes for 2-3 pax · 1-30 Sep 2026 · dine-in and takeaway · City Square Mall Mon-Fri lunch and dinner · 4 Keong Saik Rd Tue-Fri LUNCH ONLY · no weekends at either outlet · $47.96 all in.
The part the write-ups left out
Read the poster rather than the repost and the promotion narrows sharply. Along its bottom band, Kok Sen prints two different schedules, one for each outlet:
| Outlet | Days | Meals |
|---|---|---|
| City Square Mall, #04-31/32 | Monday to Friday | Lunch and dinner |
| 4 Keong Saik Road | Tuesday to Friday | Lunch only |
So there is no weekend service at either address, no Monday at Keong Saik, and no dinner sitting at Keong Saik at all. That matters because the Keong Saik shophouse is the one people mean when they say Kok Sen, and a weekend dinner there is exactly the trip most readers would plan. The restaurant will be open (its own ordering site lists Keong Saik as 11am to 8pm), it just will not have the set.
With Thursday 10 September now gone, what is left is 14 qualifying days at City Square Mall and 11 lunch services at Keong Saik, the last of them on Wednesday 30 September.
What $40++ actually costs
Add the 10% service charge and 9% GST and the set is $47.96. That is $23.98 a head for two or $15.99 a head for three.
The saving is slightly better than advertised and will still feel invisible. Restaurant usual prices are quoted the same way as promotional ones, before charges, so read consistently the usual $48 set is $57.55 all in and you are saving $9.59, not the $8 on the poster. The odd part is the coincidence: $47.96 is four cents below the $48 printed as the usual price, so the number at the bottom of your receipt will land almost exactly on what the poster calls full price.
Cheaper than ordering the three dishes yourself
Kok Sen publishes its own price list on its ordering site, and on 10 September 2026 it reads:
| Dish | Kok Sen's own listed price |
|---|---|
| Big Prawns Hor Fun | $26.50 |
| Claypot Yong Tau Foo | $23.80 |
| Garlic-fried greens | $13.40 |
| Three ordered separately | $63.70 |
Against $47.96 for the set with charges already in, that is about $15.74 of daylight. Two caveats in fairness: those are takeaway and delivery prices rather than a dine-in card, and set portions at a zi char house are usually sized to the set. Treat the gap as an indication, not a measured saving.
Why this one is worth the trip
Kok Sen is not a new opening riding a discount. It has held a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand in all ten editions of the MICHELIN Guide Singapore since the guide launched here in 2016, one of only 17 establishments to manage that, and it kept the distinction in the 2026 selection announced in August. The dishes in the set are the ones the guide's own write-up points at: wok work, claypots and prawns.
Tips before you go
- Pick the outlet by the clock, not by sentiment. Evening plans mean City Square Mall. Keong Saik is a lunch trip, Tuesday to Friday.
- Three people is where the arithmetic sings. $15.99 a head is well under most food-court sets and the food is Bib Gourmand.
- Takeaway counts. The set is valid for takeaway at both outlets, which is one way around the Keong Saik lunch window if you work nearby.
- Say "Signatures Set Menu" when ordering. It is a set on a printed campaign, not an automatic discount on the three dishes ordered separately.
- Ask before you add. The poster covers three dishes and rice. Anything extra, drinks included, is at menu price.
