IKEA has put its Kids Eat Free promotion back on, and it lands on exactly the five weekdays of the September school break. IKEA's own IKEA Family food page and the campaign poster behind it both give the window as Monday to Friday, 7 to 11 September 2026.
The mechanic is one line: 1 free kids' meal per child with every 1 main purchased from the regular adult menu. It runs at the Swedish Restaurant at all three stores, and separately at the Halal Line at IKEA Tampines, on identical terms.

The four free kids' meals
Each one normally costs $4.50 on IKEA's own restaurant menu, juice included. During this promotion the poster adds ice cream on top:
- 5 Swedish meatballs with mashed potato and mixed vegetables, plus Kivik juice and ice cream
- 2 tempura chicken strips, plus Kivik juice and ice cream
- 5 plant balls with mashed potato and mixed vegetables, plus Kivik juice and ice cream
- Organic penne pasta with tomato sauce, plus Kivik juice and ice cream
At the Tampines Halal Line the meatball option is beef. The ice cream is not handed over with the tray: IKEA's terms say to present your Swedish Restaurant receipt at the Swedish Bistro to redeem it, which is the step most people will walk past on the way out.
The part worth doing the sums on
The free kids' meal is worth $4.50, and IKEA sells several adult dishes for less than that. From IKEA's own current restaurant menu:

So at the cheap end of the menu the thing you get free costs about as much as the thing you have to buy. Two adults with two children under 12 clear $9.00 of kids' meals plus two ice creams for the price of two adult dishes.
One caution before you plan around the cheapest row. IKEA's condition says a main from the regular adult menu, and it does not publish a definition of "main" or a minimum spend. A $2.50 vegetable fried rice sits in the plant-based section rather than under hot dishes, so whether it qualifies is a call the till makes, not one the poster answers. If the free kids' meal is the whole point of the trip, order something that is unambiguously a main, or ask before you pay.
There is a second ambiguity in the same sentence. September's IKEA Family combos are discounted member prices rather than the regular menu, so the $6.90 plant balls combo and the $13.90 breaded pork cutlet combo may or may not count as the qualifying main. IKEA has not said either way.
The fine print that decides it
- IKEA Family membership is required, and it is free to join. The card or eCard has to be shown.
- The child must be present at checkout. This is written into the terms, so a takeaway run for a child waiting in the car does not work.
- Age. IKEA's headline says children 12 years old and below, while term 3 on the same page says below 12 years old. That is a one-year gap on IKEA's own page. If your child is exactly 12, treat it as unsettled and bring something with a date of birth on it.
- One free meal per adult main. Three children need three adult mains.
- While stocks last, and the promotion is dine-in at the restaurant.
- Weekdays only. The school break runs Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 September, but this offer covers only 7 to 11 September, so both weekends of the holiday are outside it.
What else is cheap at IKEA this week
The September IKEA Family prices sit alongside the kids' offer, all at member rates:
- Plant balls combo $6.90, usual $8.40, to 31 September, dine-in only
- Breaded pork cutlet combo $13.90, usual $16.80, to 30 September, dine-in only
- Crunchy almond chocolate cake with coffee or tea $2.90, usual $5.40, 3pm to 5pm daily
- Classic roasted beef striploin $14.90, usual $16.90, Wednesdays only, 6pm to 8.30pm
- Baked chicken chop with aglio olio $12.90, usual $15.40, Tampines Halal Line, to 30 September
- Specialty hot beverages $1.50 a cup, usual $1.90, IKEA Tampines only
The hearty chicken curry in a crusty bread bowl at $7.90 is worth noting for the wrong reason: it starts on 14 September, the day after the school holidays end, so it does not overlap this promotion at all.
Where and when
All three restaurants open 10am to 9.30pm on weekdays with last order at 9pm: IKEA Alexandra (317 Alexandra Road), IKEA Tampines (60 Tampines North Drive 2) and IKEA Jurong (50 Jurong Gateway Road, inside JEM). The Halal Line is at Tampines only.
