McDonald's Singapore put up a School Holiday Special on Saturday evening, and it is about as simple as a promotion gets: a free Mini Cone for kids, at every McDonald's restaurant in Singapore, until 13 September.

> Quick view: Free Mini Cone for kids. All McDonald's outlets in Singapore. Until 13 Sep 2026. No code, no app screen, no voucher. Ask at the counter or the dessert kiosk. McDonald's has not published an age limit, a minimum spend, a per-child cap or a stocks caveat, so confirm at the restaurant.

What McDonald's actually said

The announcement is one Instagram post from the brand's own account, published on 5 September 2026. In full:

> "School Holiday Special. Treat your kids to a FREE Mini Cone at McDonald's, perfect for cooling down on a sunny day or after a fun outing! Available at all McDonald's restaurants until 13 Sep."

The campaign artwork alongside it reads FREE MINI CONES ARE BACK over a SCHOOL HOLIDAY SPECIAL banner. That is the entire published announcement. There is no press release, and as of this morning the offer does not appear anywhere on mcdonalds.com.sg, including its news and updates page, its Happy Meal page and its dessert kiosk page.

The four things nobody has confirmed

This is the part worth slowing down for, because the deal listings carrying this story have each filled in the gaps differently, and none of those additions trace back to McDonald's.

QuestionWhat McDonald's published
Is a purchase required?Not stated
Is there an age cut-off for "kids"?Not stated
How many cones per child per visit? Not stated
Is it while stocks last, or limited by time of day?Not stated

You will see all four answered confidently elsewhere, most commonly as "no purchase required, after breakfast hours, while stocks last". Those conditions are not in McDonald's caption and they are not on its poster. They may well turn out to be right in practice, but they are somebody's inference, so we are not going to print them as fact. Ask when you order.

The timing is not a coincidence

The window McDonald's chose, running to 13 September, matches the September school break of 5 to 13 September to the day. That makes this a fairly precise piece of scheduling rather than a general September promotion, and it explains the framing: this is aimed at parents already out with the kids, not at the lunch crowd.

It has run before, and it will probably run again

The poster's own headline gives the game away. ARE BACK is not the language of a new campaign, and the same free Mini Cone giveaway for kids ran until 31 March 2026, over the March school holidays. Treat it as a recurring school-holiday fixture that McDonald's switches on around the breaks. That is useful to know in both directions: there is less reason to make a special trip for it this week, and a reasonable chance of it reappearing around the year-end holidays. McDonald's has never publicly committed to repeating it, so that is a pattern rather than a promise.

Is it worth going out of your way for?

Honestly, no, and that is fine. A Mini Cone is a small soft-serve in a wafer cone; the value here is that it costs nothing and asks nothing of you, not that it is a large saving. Where it earns its place is as a free full stop at the end of something you were doing anyway: after the playground, after the pool, on the walk back through the mall. If you are already out with the kids this week, it is one line at the counter.
