Elijah Pies, the homegrown pie brand that started in 2014 as one Nutella pie baked to impress a girlfriend, opens its second dine-in cafe and biggest space yet at 72 Joo Chiat Place on Saturday 12 September 2026.

> Quick view: Opens Saturday 12 September 2026, 72 Joo Chiat Place, Singapore 427789. A heritage shophouse with 60 seats, a private room that can be sectioned off, and a pet-friendly outdoor corner. New on the menu: Elijah's Souffle Pie at S$18, a dine-in only flagship special, a Kaya Toffee Pie at S$9, and a four-flavour "Pizza Pie" series on croissant crust, S$22 to S$24. Dogs get their own S$9 pie and a free cookie, young children get free babyccinos and housemade cheese crisps. Opening hours have not been published anywhere. As of 8 September the brand's own site still lists only Tanjong Pagar and the King George's Avenue studio, with no Joo Chiat page at all, so check its Instagram before making a day-one trip.

What is opening

Founders Elijah Tan and Limin Wong, both 36, are now in their 12th year. The business began as an online, delivery-only operation run out of a central kitchen, which is what carried it through the COVID-19 years, and it took eight years before they opened their first retail cafe at Tanjong Pagar Plaza in 2023. Joo Chiat is the second, and they call it the flagship.

The reason for the east is simple. Wong has said many of their customers already live there, and the couple spent close to two years looking before settling on the shophouse. The interior was done by architectural firm Nice Projects, with tabletops incorporating blue Brazilian crystal and a floor of 1,480 hand-cut, hand-placed Italian travertine tiles.

Practical bits worth knowing before you plan a group visit: 60 seats, a light-filled private room that can be sectioned off, and a 10-seat dining table with a lazy Susan, which is unusual for a cafe and is aimed squarely at extended-family meals.

The pies that are new to Joo Chiat

ItemPriceWhat it is
Elijah's Souffle PieS$18The flagship dine-in only special. A gianduja souffle with almond joconde and hazelnut praline, served warm, topped with a chocolate flower that melts slowly into it
Kaya Toffee PieS$9New to the regular menu. Housemade kaya, gula Melaka toffee and grated coconut, built as a nod to the Peranakan shophouse it is served in

The souffle pie is the one to note. It is baked and served warm, which is why it does not travel, and it is the clearest signal that Joo Chiat is meant to be eaten in rather than carried out.

The "Pizza Pies"

A new six-inch sharing series inspired by Chicago deep-dish, built on a croissant crust: hand-laminated dough folded three times into 27 alternating layers of French butter and flour. Tan says the research took four to five months.

Pizza PiePrice
Truffle CroqueS$24
"Cheeseburger"S$23
"Ruffles" (potato gratin and portobello duxelle, finished with sour cream and onion espuma piped at the table, plus drops of chive oil)S$23
Garlic EbiS$22

The Ruffles is the tableside one, so if you want the espuma piped in front of you, that is the order.

Dogs and small children eat too

This is the part that will decide the trip for a lot of households.

  • Doggie pies, S$9, supplied by pet bakery Petissier, in Wild Berry Lavender and Matchamisu to mirror Elijah Pies' own signatures. They are made with chicken breast, potato, Chinese yam and coconut cream, so they look like the human versions without being them.
  • A pet service corner outside where you can get water for your dog, and a free dog cookie for canine visitors. The founders got their own dog, a Shih Tzu-poodle cross named Snoopy, a year ago, and designed the outdoor area around the fact that people walk dogs in Joo Chiat.
  • Free babyccinos and housemade cheese crisps for young children.

Note the pet area is outdoor. Nothing published says dogs may come inside.

Drinks: a new mocktail range

MocktailPriceWhat is in it
"1930"S$13Coconut water infused with pandan leaves, layered with butterfly pea extract, topped with a coconut cream and hazelnut milk foam. Named for the building
MangoS$13Clarified mango juice, grapefruit oleo saccharum, orange blossom lollipop
"Berry Bubble"S$12Tan's take on a strawberry matcha: cold-brewed green tea topped with strawberry foam
Champagne-inspiredS$12White tea with sauvignon blanc grapes and non-alcoholic Prosecco

The classic drinks menu stays alongside these.

What has not been published, and it matters

Opening hours for Joo Chiat do not exist in public yet. We checked the brand's own website on 8 September 2026: there is no Joo Chiat page, no Joo Chiat address, and the site's page list has not been touched since June. The outlet section still shows only two addresses.

There is a second wrinkle worth carrying with you. Elijah Pies' own website disagrees with itself on the Tanjong Pagar hours. The contact page says Monday to Sunday, 10am to 10pm, last order 9pm. The homepage carries two blocks for the same Tanjong Pagar address: one says daily 10am to 10pm, the other says Monday to Wednesday 10am to 6pm with last order 5pm, then Thursday to Sunday 10am to 10pm. Both cannot be right. If you are heading to Tanjong Pagar on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening, call ahead on +65 9855 9480 rather than trusting either block.

Also unpublished: whether Joo Chiat takes reservations, whether the private room can be booked, and whether the 10-seat table needs booking. On a day-one Saturday at a 60-seat cafe in Joo Chiat, assume a queue.

The other two addresses stay open

  • Tanjong Pagar cafe: 7 Tanjong Pagar Plaza #01-102, Singapore 081007. Dine-in and takeaway. Hours per the contact page: daily 10am to 10pm, last order 9pm, with the caveat above.
  • Baking studio: 803 King George's Avenue #02-216 (shophouse level), Singapore 200803. Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm. Takeaway only, no dine-in, with whole pies and slices in selected flavours available for walk-in purchase while stocks last. Workshops run from here.

What the pies cost if you order online instead

Useful for pricing the trip. These are whole pies from Elijah Pies' own webstore, read on 8 September 2026:

Whole piePriceStock on 8 Sep
Nutella Pie (the original, 2014)S$54In stock
Wild Berry LavenderS$59In stock
Speculoos HōjichaS$59In stock
Raspberry RippleS$59Out of stock
MatchamisuS$62Out of stock
Cremino Cheesy PieS$69In stock

Two of the brand's named signatures, Raspberry Ripple and Matchamisu, were showing out of stock online at the time of writing, so do not build an order around them without checking first.

Delivery is not free: Flexi (9am to 7pm) is S$14 and Express (9am to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm) is S$18, islandwide, daily. Against that, the S$9 Kaya Toffee Pie and S$18 souffle pie at the counter are the cheap way into the brand, and the souffle pie cannot be delivered at all.
