Six water heater brands checked against NEA's own energy-label register on 17 September 2026, with prices from Harvey Norman, COURTS and the brands' stores. Good instant heaters cost under $100 and rate 4 ticks, while many popular storage tanks rate 1 tick and cost over $200 a year to run. Climate Vouchers only cover 5-tick heaters, and one shop in Singapore is approved to take them.

The best-value brand on this list covers both types. For one bathroom, the **MSH303M instant heater is S$98 (was S$118)** on Mayer, Mistral's official online store, and NEA's register rates it **4 ticks** at 221 kWh a year, about **$77 a year** at the July to September 2026 tariff of 34.78 cents per kWh. If you want a tank, the **MSWH150WG 15-litre** is the only electric storage heater out of 270 registered models that reaches 4 ticks (UEF 0.97, 291 kWh, about **$101 a year**). It is **S$239 (was S$389) at Harvey Norman**; Mayer lists the same price but showed it sold out on 17 September. Its 30-litre sibling, the MSWH300WG, is 3 ticks and $299, but it was out of stock at both Harvey Norman and Mayer. Do not swap it for the **MSWH30 that COURTS sells at $299**. That older tank is rated **1 tick** at 682 kWh, roughly **$237 a year**, so the same $299 costs you about $120 more in electricity every year. One more thing to know: Mayer's Climate Voucher offer covers Mistral fans, not its water heaters.

If you want the biggest name in HDB bathrooms, buy the instant heater. The **Aures Easy is S$140 at Harvey Norman** and NEA rates it **4 ticks with a UEF of 0.99**, one of the highest on the register: 216 kWh, about **$75 a year** to run. The Aures Premium+ scores the same 0.99 and is S$241 if you want the nicer finish. Ariston's current promotion runs the other way. Buy a selected **Wi-Fi storage heater between 1 September and 31 October 2026**, register the warranty with code **ARILUG** by 15 November, and Ariston gives you **cabin luggage worth $229** (collection to 15 December, up to two per household). The catch is that every participating model (Andris 3 Top Wi-Fi, Slim3 Top Wi-Fi, Andris Lux Wi-Fi, Andris2 Top Wi-Fi and Lux-D Wi-Fi) is **2 ticks** on NEA's register, using 449 to 505 kWh a year, or roughly **$156 to $176 a year**. They cost S$409 to S$549 at Harvey Norman. Over three years that is $240 to $300 more electricity than the Aures Easy, which is more than the luggage is worth. Also skip the **30L AN3 30 RS SIN at S$359**: it is **1 tick**, about $218 a year.

The cheapest 4-tick instant heater at a big retailer. Champs' **Auriga Core is S$108 at Harvey Norman (was S$149)** in matte white or black, against **S$149 on Champs' own store**. NEA's register gives it **4 ticks** (UEF 0.97, 219 kWh), about **$76 a year**, and Harvey Norman lists a 24-month warranty. Champs' newer Virgo Ace ($148 at Harvey Norman, $249 on Champs' store) is also 4 ticks, so the Auriga Core is the one to buy on price alone. Where Champs goes wrong is its tanks. The **SA15 15-litre storage heater is rated 1 tick** (UEF 0.42, 664 kWh), about **$231 a year**, even though it sells for S$249 at Harvey Norman and COURTS and S$298 on Champs' store. The SA30 is 2 ticks. If you need a tank, look at Mistral or Fujioh instead.

The safest brand to buy a tank from. Fujioh is the **only brand whose every registered storage heater is 3 ticks or better**: the 15L FZ-SH3015 (400 kWh, about $139 a year), the slim 20L **FZ-SH3520** (UEF 0.80, 354 kWh, about **$123 a year**) and the 30L **FZ-SH3030** (364 kWh, about **$127 a year**). Its FZ-WH5133 and FZ-WH5033 instant heaters are all 4 ticks. Fujioh does not sell online itself; it lists authorised dealers and official Shopee and Lazada stores, and Lazada listings put the 20L at **about S$298**. The reason to buy now is Fujioh's **extended warranty promotion for purchases from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027**. Register within 10 days of delivery (and by 31 May 2027) and storage heaters get **2 years' full warranty, plus 3 years on the heating element and 8 years on the inner tank**, against the standard 5-year tank and 1-year parts cover. Registering online adds another three months. Transport and labour charges apply to the extended part.

Japanese brand KDK is the easy pick if you are already shopping at Harvey Norman. The **RG20AHM1 20-litre storage heater is S$299** and rated **3 ticks** (UEF 0.76, 376 kWh), about **$131 a year**. Watch the size you choose: the **30-litre RG30AHM1 at S$329 drops to 2 ticks** and about $168 a year, so a couple or a small family is better served by the 20L. For one bathroom, KDK's One Knob instant heaters are all 4 ticks: the **TG3BL1 at S$139** (UEF 0.97) and the **TG3AE1 at S$199**, which scores 0.99 and uses just 214 kWh, about **$74 a year**. Harvey Norman lists a 24-month warranty on the instant models. KDK has no promotion running and no Singapore web store, so buy through retailers.

This is the answer to "can I use my Climate Vouchers on a water heater?" Since 1 April 2026 only **5-tick** water heaters qualify, and on NEA's register on 17 September just **two models are 5 ticks, both A.O. Smith heat pumps**: the 150-litre **HPI-40D1.0BE** (UEF 1.33, 214 kWh, about **$74 a year**) and the 300-litre CAHP-80. On the government's voucher map, **AOS Bath at 178 Paya Lebar Road #06-11 is the only one of 826 participating stores approved for water heaters**, and it scans the vouchers on delivery. AOS Bath says heat pumps cost **$3,000 to $10,000**, and it lets **OCBC credit card holders split the price over 12 months** (from about $250 a month for its Micro Heat Pump) on top of the vouchers. Be realistic about payback. At NEA's three-showers-a-day assumption the HPI uses about the same power as a 4-tick instant heater, so it only saves money against a storage tank (about $144 a year against a 1-tick 30L). It makes most sense for landed homes or big families running several bathrooms at once. Two cautions: AOS Bath's own Gen 1 (S$583) and Gen 6 Digital (S$804) storage heaters are rated **1 tick**, and its HDB-sized Micro Heat Pump did not appear on NEA's register on 17 September, so ask to see the 5-tick label on the exact model before you count on the vouchers.

Tick ratings, UEF and yearly kWh for every model come from NEA's Energy Labelling Scheme product search, which listed 270 registered water heaters on 17 September 2026. Prices were read the same day on Harvey Norman and COURTS, on the Mistral (Mayer), Champs and AOS Bath stores, and on Lazada for Fujioh, matched by model code. The Climate Voucher rule comes from the programme's water heater page (updated 18 June 2026) and the store count from the official voucher map. Only a 5-tick one. Since 1 April 2026 the scheme's water heater rule is 5 ticks, and an ordinary electric heater cannot reach it because 5 ticks needs a UEF above 1.00. On NEA's register on 17 September 2026 only two models qualified, both A.O. Smith heat pumps, and AOS Bath was the only one of 826 participating stores approved for water heaters. Instant and normal storage heaters, including every Ariston, Mistral, Champs, KDK and Fujioh model, are not covered.
For a bathroom used one shower at a time, an instant heater. Almost every instant model on NEA's register is 4 ticks (one Mistral model is 2) and costs about $74 to $77 a year to run, and good ones cost $98 to $140. Choose a storage heater if you want a rain shower with strong flow, hot water at a basin or kitchen tap, or several people showering back to back. Then pick a 3-tick or 4-tick tank, such as Mistral's 15L MSWH150WG or Fujioh's 20L or 30L, because 1-tick tanks cost over $200 a year.
Look for the energy label, which shows the ticks, yearly kWh and yearly cost at 27 cents per kWh. Online, search the exact model code on NEA's Energy Labelling Scheme product search (choose Water Heater). Model names are close enough to catch people out: Mistral's MSWH300WG is 3 ticks but the MSWH30 is 1 tick, and Ariston's AN3 15 RS SIN is 2 ticks while the AN3 30 RS SIN is 1 tick.
At NEA's assumption of three showers a day and the July to September 2026 tariff of 34.78 cents per kWh: about $74 to $77 a year for a 4-tick instant heater, $101 to $131 for a 3-tick or 4-tick storage tank, and $200 to $240 for a 1-tick tank. The label prints costs at 27 cents, so multiply the label figure by about 1.29 for today's bill.
No. Harvey Norman's product pages state that the price does not include installation or dismantling, and COURTS labels its water heaters "installation charges applies". Budget separately for a plumber or electrician, and ask whether the quote includes removing the old heater and any new piping.
