8 Best Washing Machines in Singapore (2026): 4-Tick Picks From $299 and What Your $400 Climate Voucher Really Covers
Every HDB household has $400 of Climate Vouchers sitting in an app, and a washing machine is one of the few things worth spending them on. The condition is a 4-tick water efficiency rating, and that rules out more machines than you would think: of the 1,510 clothes washing machines on PUB's register, 83 carry 2 ticks, 747 carry 3, and only 680 carry 4. Prices as they stand on 7 September 2026, all cross-checked against the register: Toshiba's 7kg AW-M801AS at $299 at COURTS, Electrolux's 8kg EWT8078K6SA at $359, EuropAce's 8kg ETW8800DGM at $389 with a free $99 fan until 30 September, Hisense's 8kg WF80N1 front loader at $539, Whirlpool's 9.5kg VEMC95821 at $549, Samsung's 8kg WA80CG4546BV at $699, Midea's 10.5kg washer dryer MF210D105WB at $899 and Bosch's 9kg WGG24400SG at $1,449 until 15 September. The cheapest 4-tick washing machine we could find on sale anywhere in Singapore, and the only one on this list your $300 voucher swallows whole. PUB's register lists it at 4.2 litres per kilogram, which is better than several machines here costing three times as much. It is 7kg, so it suits one or two people rather than a family, and it is a plain top loader with no inverter badge and no app. Buy it at COURTS, which is a participating retailer, and build the payment out of the voucher tiles ($50, $10, $5, $2) so you spend exactly $299 instead of over-selecting and losing the difference.

The cheapest 8kg machine here, and the price comes straight off Electrolux's own Singapore store rather than a marketplace listing. Registered at 5.0 litres per kilogram, comfortably inside the 4-tick band. The catch is not the machine, it is where you buy it: Electrolux runs no participating store of its own, so a Climate Voucher cannot be used on this $359 web price. To spend the voucher you need the same model from COURTS, Gain City, Best Denki or Harvey Norman, and their price may differ from Electrolux's.

EuropAce is one of the few brands that prints the tick rating in the product name, and the register backs it up at 5.2 litres per kilogram for 8kg. At $389 against a $599 list price it is $30 more than the Electrolux, but the free 12-inch Living Fan is worth $99 and is itself a voucher-eligible category. EuropAce also has two participating stores of its own, trading as Strategic Marketing, at 310 Orchard Road #B1-34 and 10 Changi South Street 3 #06-01, so the voucher can be spent on this brand without going through a chain.

The cheapest front loader here, and the most interesting entry for a different reason. Climate Vouchers normally cannot be used online at all, but Hisense sells this machine on its own site and has its delivery staff scan the voucher QR code when the machine arrives, with any balance paid by PayNow on the spot. That makes a $539 machine roughly $139 after the full $400. It is registered at 4.6 litres per kilogram for 8kg, better than every top loader on this list, with a 1,200rpm spin and a 15-minute quick wash. Note that Hisense's own spec table calls it a top load, which is a typo on a machine the same page photographs and sells as a front loader.

The best size-per-dollar on this list if you want a family drum without moving to a front loader. At 9.5kg it handles bedding that an 8kg machine struggles with, and it is registered at 5.2 litres per kilogram, the same figure as the far smaller EuropAce. Whirlpool also runs its own participating store, so the brand is voucher-friendly, though COURTS at 13 approved outlets is the easier place to redeem. A 10kg sibling, the VWVD10022GG, sits at $599 and is registered slightly thirstier at 5.6.

Samsung's cheapest washing machine in Singapore, and it does qualify, which is not something you can assume from the price. It is registered at 5.7 litres per kilogram, the thirstiest 4-tick machine on this list and close to the 6.0 cut-off, so you are paying for EcoBubble, the Digital Inverter motor and its warranty rather than for water savings. The next step up, the WW90FG4U04AE 9kg front loader at $899, is registered at 4.0 and is the better buy if your budget stretches. Samsung's own store at VivoCity takes the voucher.

The most water-efficient machine you can actually buy off this list, registered at 3.6 litres per kilogram against a 4-tick band that only has to beat 6.0. It also dries, at 7kg, which matters in an HDB flat with no yard and a rainy fortnight. Washer dryers are usually the compromise choice, but at $899 for 10.5kg of washing this one undercuts several wash-only machines that use more water. Midea has no participating store of its own, so buy it from COURTS or another approved retailer if you want to spend the voucher.

The one machine here with a real deadline on it, and the only genuinely premium pick. Registered at 4.7 litres per kilogram for 9kg, which is mid-table for water but the half-price tag is what makes it interesting: $1,449 against a $2,799 list, and the flash sale is stated to end 15 September. The Cast Iron finish, WGG24401SG, is the same money and the same 4.7 rating. Bosch runs its own participating store through BSH Home Appliances, so the voucher is usable at the brand as well as at COURTS.

What "4 ticks" actually means, and why it is not an energy rating
PUB's Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme grades washing machines at 2, 3 or 4 ticks. On the register on 7 September 2026 there are 1,510 registered clothes washing machines: 83 carry 2 ticks, 747 carry 3, and 680 carry 4. So 45% of what is legally on sale qualifies for the voucher, and the other 55% does not, whatever the sticker on the shelf says about being energy efficient.
The numbers behind the ticks are unambiguous. Every 4-tick machine on the register uses between 2.6 and 6.0 litres of water per kilogram of rated load. Three-tick machines start at 6.09. In practice, "4 ticks" means 6.0 litres per kilogram or better.
It is worth being precise about one thing that a lot of roundups get wrong: this is a water rating, not an energy one. Washing machines in Singapore carry two separate labels, PUB's blue water label and NEA's energy label, and the Climate Voucher condition is the water one. The scheme's own product page describes the eligible machine as carrying "a 4-tick water efficiency rating". Aircon (5 ticks) and fridges (3 ticks and above) are the ones judged on energy.
The $400, and the two catches worth knowing before you go
Every eligible household has two sets of Climate Vouchers, $300 and $100, and both expire on 31 December 2027. Singapore Citizens and PRs living in an HDB flat qualify; in private property, only Singapore Citizens do. One member claims for the whole household at go.gov.sg/cv-claim with Singpass, and multiple families at one address share a single set.
Catch one: it is an in-store scheme. The official FAQ is blunt about it. The vouchers "can only be scanned in-person and cannot be scanned remotely". A small number of retailers work around this by letting you order online and scanning the QR code when the machine is delivered, which is exactly what Hisense does. Everyone else expects you in the shop.
Catch two: there is no change. No cash change or store credit is given if the purchase costs less than the voucher amount you selected. The denomination tiles in the app go down to $2, so on a $299 machine you can build $299 exactly out of $50, $10, $5 and $2 tiles. Throwing the full $400 at it would simply lose you $101.
Where the voucher actually works for a washing machine
The official map lists 828 participating stores, but only 165 of them are approved for washing machines. The rest sell taps, cisterns, LED lights and fans. The chains with the most washing-machine outlets are COURTS and Harvey Norman with 13 each, Best Denki and Gain City with 12 each, then FairPrice with 9 supermarkets, Giant with 4 and Parisilk with 3.
Only a handful of brands run a participating store of their own that covers washing machines: Hisense, EuropAce (trading as Strategic Marketing), Samsung, Bosch, Panasonic and Whirlpool. LG, Electrolux, Sharp, Toshiba, Midea, Beko and Hitachi have none, so their machines have to be bought from a multi-brand retailer for the voucher to apply. That is why the $359 Electrolux price above cannot be paid with vouchers on Electrolux's own website.
One to watch: PRISM+ has eight participating stores in malls across the island and 15 four-tick washing machines on the register, but the map does not list washing machines at any of those eight. Budget to pay for a PRISM+ washer in full.
Your old machine goes free
Under the Resource Sustainability Act, the retailer delivering a regulated consumer product (washing machines, fridges and aircon) has to take away your old appliance of the same type free of charge on request. It is not automatic, so say so when you place the order. Note separately that non-lift-landing delivery is charged: Electrolux, for example, publishes $50 per item per level for appliances other than fridges, and the same fee applies to the disposal run.
The most water-efficient machine in Singapore, and why it is not on the list
Sharp's ES-FW1014SW, a 10kg front loader, is registered at 2.6 litres per kilogram, the lowest figure among all 680 four-tick machines. We could not find it stocked at a participating retailer on 7 September, which is why it is not ranked above. Of the machines you can walk out with today, Midea's MF210D105WB at 3.6 is the most frugal, then Samsung's WW90FG4U04AE at 4.0 and Toshiba's $299 AW-M801AS at 4.2.
How we checked
Every model above was looked up by name on PUB's WELS register on 7 September 2026 for its tick rating, its litres per kilogram and its rated capacity, so no tick claim here rests on a brand's marketing copy. Prices came from the brand's own Singapore store where the brand sells direct (Electrolux, EuropAce, Hisense, Samsung) and from COURTS, a participating retailer, for the rest (Toshiba, Whirlpool, Midea, Bosch). Every listed machine showed in stock on the day. Retailer eligibility was read off the government's own participating-retailer map rather than from any shop's own claim.

Generally no. PUB's FAQ states the Climate Vouchers "can only be scanned in-person and cannot be scanned remotely", so the scheme is built around walking into a shop. Hisense does this on its own Singapore store, with any remaining balance paid by PayNow on the spot. Assume in-store unless the retailer says otherwise.

How much is left on my Climate Voucher and when does it expire?
Each eligible household gets two sets, $300 and $100, for $400 in total, and both expire on 31 December 2027. Singapore Citizens and PRs registered at and living in an HDB flat qualify; in private property, only Singapore Citizens do. Only one member needs to claim on behalf of the household, and multiple families at the same address share one set of each. If you want to spend from both campaigns in the same transaction, select the vouchers from each one at a time and show them to the retailer separately.
