How to choose a clothes dryer

  • Buy heat pump, not vented. A vented dryer is cheaper upfront (Beko's 8kg vented is $669) but EuropAce's vented dryers are all rated 2 ticks on NEA's register, and its 8kg vented model uses 683kWh a year against 225kWh for Beko's 8kg heat pump. Heat pump dryers also run cooler, so they are gentler on clothes and do not need a window vent.
  • Match the drum to your washer. A dryer should take a full wash load in one go. If your washer is 8kg, an 8kg dryer is enough; families with 10kg washers or a weekly bedsheet day should go 9kg-10.5kg.
  • Read kWh, not just ticks. Every heat pump dryer here is 5 ticks, yet annual use ranges from 212kWh (Samsung 9kg) to 363kWh (EuropAce 9kg). The label also prints the yearly cost, priced at 27 cents per kWh.
  • Use the Climate Voucher in store. Clothes dryers joined the Climate Friendly Households Programme on 15 April 2026, and only 5-tick models qualify. Vouchers (up to $400 per household, valid to 31 December 2027) are scanned at participating retailers' physical counters, so a brand's own online store will not take them. Check the model on the shelf label before paying.
  • Check stacking and space. Most dryers here are about 60cm wide and 85cm tall. Stacking on a front-load washer needs a kit (Electrolux includes one free right now); a top-load washer cannot be stacked.
  • Time the purchase. Electrolux and EuropAce offers run to 31 December. COURTS' Scarily Good Deals ends 1 November, and 11.11 falls on Wednesday 11 November, when retailers often add a code.

How we checked

Prices and promotions were read on 30 October 2026 from Electrolux Singapore's dryer, promotions and product pages, Samsung Singapore's dryer pages, EuropAce's online store, Sharp Singapore's store, and COURTS' dryer listings, product pages and online promotion terms. Tick ratings and annual kWh come from NEA's Energy Labelling Scheme product register for clothes dryers, matched by exact model code. LG sells no dryers on its Singapore store, and Bosch's own store would not load, so Bosch is priced at COURTS. Prices include GST and change often, so check the link before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best clothes dryer to buy in Singapore in 2026?

For most homes, a 5-tick heat pump dryer. On 30 October 2026 the best value was the Electrolux UltimateCare 300 8kg (EDH804H3WB) at $799 on Electrolux's store with a free stacking kit, the most efficient was the Samsung 9kg DV90T6240LE at $1,499 (212kWh a year), and the cheapest 9kg was EuropAce's EDY8900E at $999.

Can I use the $400 Climate Voucher on a clothes dryer?

Yes, if the dryer is rated 5 ticks. Clothes dryers became eligible on 15 April 2026. Vouchers must be scanned at a participating retailer's physical store, not online, and are valid until 31 December 2027. Six of our seven picks are confirmed 5 ticks on NEA's register; we could not find the Hisense DH105M3 there, so check its label in store.

How much electricity does a heat pump dryer use?

The models we checked use 212-363kWh a year on NEA's label, which prices out at roughly $57-$98 a year at 27 cents per kWh. A vented dryer uses far more: EuropAce's 8kg vented model is rated at 683kWh a year.

Is a heat pump dryer better than a vented dryer?

For most Singapore homes, yes. Heat pump dryers cost more upfront but the ones we checked use a third to half the electricity of a vented model, dry at lower temperatures that are gentler on fabrics, and do not need an outside vent. Vented dryers like Beko's 8kg ($669) only make sense if you dry rarely.
