Walk-in, dine-in only, 100 portions a day, 1 per person, up to 10 per table. Service charge and GST apply, so expect about $14.39 paid.

Barossa, the Creative Eateries steakhouse on VivoCity's waterfront, is marking its grand reopening with a steak most people would not normally order on a whim. The Australian F1 Wagyu Oyster Blade usually costs $68 before charges. For two weeks it is $12, but only the first 100 portions each day get it.

Oyster blade is a shoulder cut with a seam of connective tissue down the middle. Barossa's poster shows it grilled and sliced across the grain, which is the usual way to serve it, and the brand describes it as beautifully marbled and tender.

Where to go: the terms are on Barossa's own Grand Re-Opening Special page. The address, phone number (6255 1855) and opening hours are on Barossa's contact page.

What you actually pay

Barossa's terms say all prices are subject to service charge and prevailing government taxes. With 10% service charge and 9% GST, the $12 steak comes to about $14.39, against about $81.53 at the usual $68. Anything else you order, such as drinks or sides, is charged at menu price on top.

The fine print

  1. Walk-in guests only. Barossa's page says the offer is for walk-in guests, so a reservation will not hold you a portion.
  2. 100 portions a day. Once the day's 100 are gone, the deal is over until the next day. The page does not say whether the quota is split between lunch and dinner.
  3. Dine-in only, 1 per person. No takeaway or delivery, and up to 10 people per table.
  4. No stacking. It cannot be combined with other promotions, discount cards, vouchers, membership or VIP privileges, or Grab Dine-Out deals.
  5. Item may be swapped. Management can replace the steak with an item of similar value if stock runs short.

Tips

  • Go at opening. Barossa opens at 11.30am every day. With only 100 portions, lunch on a weekday is the safest bet.
  • Bring the table. The limit is one per person, so a group of four gets four steaks. Ten is the most per table.
  • The last weekend will be busiest. Sat 14 and Sun 15 Nov are the final two days, and Sundays draw HarbourFront crowds.
  • More steak deals? Our steakhouses guide prices Barossa's $58++ steak buffet against eight other rooms.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the Barossa $12 wagyu steak after charges?

About $14.39. Barossa's terms say all prices are subject to service charge and prevailing government taxes, so the $12 steak picks up 10% service charge and 9% GST. At the usual $68 it would be about $81.53.

Can I reserve a table for the Barossa $12 wagyu deal?

Not for the deal itself. Barossa's page says it is available for walk-in guests, with only 100 portions a day, so a booking does not hold you a steak. Arrive early, ideally at the 11.30am opening on a weekday.

Is there a limit on how many $12 steaks I can order?

Yes. It is up to 1 order per person and up to 10 people per table, so a table of ten can get ten steaks. It is dine-in only and cannot be combined with other promotions, vouchers, membership privileges or Grab Dine-Out deals.
