> Quick view: Starbucks Singapore's Surprise & Delight Mystery Bag goes on sale Monday 21 September 2026 at 10am, at $49.90 for a tote holding three random items the brand values at up to $140. Two colourways, Navy and Black, same price. Online and at selected stores, though the listing does not say which stores.
Starbucks Singapore announced the drop on its own Facebook page on the morning of Sunday 20 September, and the product listing went live on its online store two days earlier. Both give the same core facts: three different items per bag, products given at random, worth up to $140, on sale 21 September at 10am.
The price is the part the announcement leaves out. The listing has it: $49.90, the same for both the Navy and the Black bag.
What you actually get
Starbucks describes it as "three suprises, one bag of joy" (the brand's own listing carries that typo, and spells the product "Surpise" throughout, which is worth knowing if you search the store for it).
The bag itself is part of the buy, not just packaging. Starbucks lists it as 100% polyester, sized 36cm high by 39.5cm wide by 19.5cm deep, spot clean only, no bleach, no iron, no dry cleaning. That is a full-size tote, not a gift pouch.
As for the three mystery items, the campaign artwork is more specific than the words are. It shows three silhouettes with question marks on them: a to-go cold cup, a flask or water bottle, and a mug. Starbucks does not spell out that the contents are drinkware, but its own graphic points squarely at one item from each of those three categories.
What "worth up to $140" is really worth
We priced this against Starbucks Singapore's own online store on 20 September. The store currently lists 205 merchandise products, of which 129 are drinkware: tumblers, cold cups, water bottles and mugs, setting aside cup sleeves, charms, keychains and bags.
Those 129 items run from $21.90 to $79.90, with a median of $44.90.
That gives the $140 claim a shape:
| Scenario | The three items | Total | Against $49.90 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Worst case | Cheapest cold cup ($21.90), cheapest water bottle ($24.90), cheapest mug ($21.90) | $68.70 | You are still $18.80 ahead |
| Typical | Three items at the $44.90 median | $134.70 | Close to the stated ceiling |
| Best case | Starbucks' stated cap | $140 | 64% below retail |
Two things fall out of that. First, the floor is decent: even if the bag held the three cheapest qualifying items on the entire store, it would be worth $68.70, which is 27% more than you paid. Second, $140 is a genuine cap rather than a fantasy number. The dearest item in each category (a $79.90 Stanley cold cup, a $65.90 MiiR water bottle, a $49.90 MiiR mug) would come to $195.70, well past $140, so Starbucks is capping the top end rather than dangling an unreachable one.
The honest caveat: Starbucks never says the contents come from the current catalogue. Mystery bags are a standard way to move past-season and slow stock, so treat the figures above as the range of what Starbucks sells today, not a promise about what is in the bag.
Where to buy it, and the gap in the instructions
The Facebook post says the bag drops "at selected stores* and Starbucks Online Store (10AM)", with the asterisk pointing to: "Check the product listing for participating stores."
The product listing does not name any stores. It says only "Available online and in selected stores". We checked both colourway pages and the category page on 20 September; there is no outlet list, and Starbucks Singapore's Instagram is not showing one publicly either.
So as things stand the only confirmed channel at 10am on Monday is the online store. A few things about that route:
- The listing is set up for delivery, and store collection is not offered on it, so an online order ships to you rather than being held at a branch.
- Starbucks Singapore's shop runs a virtual waiting room (a NetFunnel queue). On a limited drop at a fixed 10am start, expect to be queued rather than to land straight on the product page.
- No purchase limit is published on the listing. Starbucks has capped past merchandise drops at two pieces per design per person, but nothing on this listing says so.
If you would rather buy in person, you will need to ask your usual branch directly, because Starbucks has not published the list it told people to look for.
The fine print worth knowing
- On sale: Monday 21 September 2026, 10:00am. No end date is published; these drops run while stocks last.
- Price: $49.90, identical for Navy and Black.
- Contents: three different items, given at random, worth up to $140. You cannot choose, and Starbucks does not publish odds or a contents list.
- Returns: a random-contents product is the kind of item retailers usually treat as non-exchangeable. Starbucks has not published a specific policy for this bag, so check before you buy if that matters to you.
What it means for you
At $49.90 this is a reasonable bet by mystery-box standards, mostly because the downside is bounded. The realistic worst case still leaves you ahead on paper, and the realistic best case is a genuinely good price for three pieces of Starbucks drinkware plus a usable tote.
The catch is control, not value. You cannot pick, and if you already own a shelf of tumblers, three more random ones at $49.90 is not a saving. The people this suits are gift buyers and anyone who was going to buy Starbucks drinkware anyway.
