SKAI, the restaurant on the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford, has turned its afternoon tea over to Disney and Pixar's Toy Story until the end of November. It is called You've Got A Friend In Me, and every one of the ten pieces on the stand is built around a character.

What you actually get

The adult set is ten pieces plus a scone, split five savoury and five sweet, and each one is named after a character.

  • Potato Head Royale (Mr. Potato Head): smoked russet, Comté gougère, black truffle, N25 caviar
  • Pretzel Stretch (Slinky Dog): house wagyu beef smokie, pretzel brioche, sauerkraut, onion fondue
  • Golden Orchard (Hamm): smoked duck mousse, honey apple gel, savoury duck crackling
  • Tropical Roar (Rex): bolo pineapple bun, pandan mascarpone
  • Garden Harvest (Peas-in-a-Pod): pea purée, savoury cracker, Parma ham, cucumber, feta cream cheese

Sweets

  • Cowboy Chocolate (Woody): Caraïbe 66% chocolate, hazelnut feuilletine
  • Space Ranger (Buzz Lightyear): berry velvet, cream cheese frosting
  • Lots O' Berry (Lotso): Sengana Bois strawberry shortcake
  • The Claw's Choice (the Aliens): matcha mandarin orange choux
  • Golden Gallop (Jessie and Bullseye): Alfonso mango sorbet, blueberry, streusel

Then a warm traditional raisin scone with strawberry jam and Devonshire clotted cream, and one drink: a Toy Story alcohol-free cocktail, a TWG tea or a gourmet coffee. The two themed cocktails are Little Green Glow (mint cordial, cucumber, citrus, blue curaçao syrup) and Sheriff Star Splash (jasmine tea cold brew, citrus, honey, ginger ale). Five TWG teas are included; four premium ones cost +$5, which is about $6 nett.

The menu is credited to Director of Culinary Nicholas Issel and Executive Pastry Chef Yong Ming Choong.

What it costs once the ++ is paid

The prices SKAI publishes are before 10% service charge and 9% GST, which is a 19.9% uplift.

The catch: the child set is half the price and three pieces shorter

SKAI publishes three separate menus, and they are not the same set at three prices. Reading them side by side, the children's menu drops three of the ten pieces: Golden Orchard (Hamm), Lots O' Berry (Lotso) and The Claw's Choice (the Aliens). A child gets four savouries, three sweets and the scone, which is eight pieces against the adult's eleven.

That is not bad value. It works out at about S$5.85 a piece for a child against S$8.50 a piece for an adult. But it does mean a 10-year-old who came for Lotso's strawberry shortcake or the Aliens' matcha choux will not be served one, and neither the booking page nor the price says so. If that matters at your table, the fix is to order an adult set and share it.

The vegetarian menu, by contrast, loses nothing. It keeps all ten pieces and swaps ingredients instead: olive oil caviaroll for the N25 caviar, plant-based Impossible for the wagyu smokie, chickpea mousse for the smoked duck, and it drops the Parma ham from the Peas-in-a-Pod. Flag it when you book.

Booking, timings and the two-hour rule

Reservations are required. High tea runs daily and SKAI lists the window two ways: the campaign page says 12.15pm to 5.30pm, while the restaurant's own hours block puts high tea at 12pm to 5.30pm with seatings from 12pm to 3.30pm and a two-hour dining limit. Treat 3.30pm as the last realistic seating and book earlier if you want the view before the light goes.

Level 70 is the highest restaurant in Singapore, so the Marina Bay view is the other half of what you are paying for. Note that SKAI Bar, one floor of the same operation, is 18 and over after 6pm. That does not affect the high tea, which finishes well before.

The room package, and why "priority access" is not a table

Swissôtel The Stamford sells a Toy Story-inspired room stay alongside this, bookable 20 August to 30 November 2026 for stays 3 September to 30 November 2026. It includes an overnight stay in a themed room, daily breakfast, Toy Story in-room touches, and keepsakes valued at S$120 redeemable at the Disney merchandise pop-up in the Level 2 Atrium, 9am to 9pm.

Two things the offer page states plainly and most write-ups skip. First, the high tea is not included in the room package, so you pay for it separately on top. Second, the "priority reservation" for it does not guarantee a confirmed booking; you still have to email SKAI and it is still subject to availability. There is also a two-night minimum, and the booking is strictly non-refundable with full prepayment charged at the time of booking. Optional add-ons: Toy Story chocolate fudge 500g at $80++, praline bon bons at $48++, macarons at $48++.

Worth knowing

  • The September school holidays run 5 to 13 September, so the first full week of this menu overlaps them. Weekday afternoons will be the quietest slots after that.
  • Children on the room package must be 12 and below, which lines up with the 6-to-12 child high tea band. A 13-year-old pays adult price.
  • Merchandise vouchers are one-time, physical only. Screenshots and photocopies are refused, and an unredeemed voucher is forfeited.
