The Land Transport Authority published the road closure and public transport arrangements for the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2026 on 4 September 2026. This is the document that turns "there will be closures" into times you can actually plan around.

Two things in this year's release are worth catching before you book a dinner, a hotel or a ride home. LTA says the vehicle access timings have been adjusted because of the Sprint race Singapore hosts for the first time this year. And the extended last trains are shorter than last year's, which is the opposite of what most people will assume.
The seven-day closure window
Affected roads close from 12.01am on Wednesday 7 October 2026 to allow the race infrastructure to be set up. After the race, LTA says roads will be reopened progressively in phases, and all affected roads will be fully open by 5.30am on Tuesday 13 October 2026.
That is the same seven-day shape as 2025, when closures ran 1 to 7 October around a 3 to 5 October race: the perimeter goes up two days before the first session and clears two days after the Grand Prix.
Driving in: the Access Lane, and what the Sprint changed
During the closure period you can still reach the Marina Centre via Rochor Road to Temasek Boulevard. The alternative is a single lane along Raffles Boulevard, known as the Access Lane, entered from Nicoll Highway or Temasek Boulevard. Buses and vehicles with W, X and Y plates cannot use it. Everyone else can, but only in these windows:

LTA states plainly that these timings "have been adjusted due to the new SPRINT Race introduced in Singapore this year". Put Friday side by side with 2025 and you can see exactly where it landed:
- 2025, race Friday (3 Oct): 12am to 6am, 10am to 5pm, 10pm to 12am
- 2026, race Friday (9 Oct): 12am to 6am, 10am to 4pm, 11pm to 12am
Friday loses an hour of afternoon access, and the late-night window opens an hour later. In 2025 the race Friday was grouped with the ordinary set-up days; in 2026 it has been pulled out and tightened on its own.
Taxis and motorcycles can use the Access Lane at all times except during F1 track activity hours. Auxiliary Police Officers will be deployed to direct traffic, and yellow temporary road signs will be posted at junctions to point drivers towards Stamford Road, Bayfront Avenue and Shenton Way. Esplanade Drive carries its own "closed" signage.
Peak-hour reopenings
To keep commuter traffic moving, LTA reopens selected corridors at set hours during the closure period.

Note what is missing from that table: 10 and 11 October get no peak-hour reopening at all. On the Saturday and the Sunday the perimeter stays shut, which is why the Access Lane on those two days stops at 1pm.
Note also that Monday 12 October is a working day, not a holiday, and it is the only date that gets both a morning and an evening reopening.
Public transport: extended, but less than 2025
Train services are extended on event days from 9 to 11 October 2026. The headline figures, in LTA's words:
- Last North-South Line and East-West Line trains depart City Hall at 12.30am on 9 and 10 October, and 12.45am on 11 October
- Operating hours on the other train lines are extended too, with the Changi Airport service the exception
- Selected bus services connecting from MRT stations also get extended operating hours
- Bus routes through the area will be diverted, so allow extra time on board, or get off outside the perimeter and walk
Here is the comparison nobody else will hand you. In 2025 LTA extended City Hall's last trains to 12.30am on the Friday and 1.00am on both the Saturday and the Sunday. In 2026 the same nights are 12.30am and 12.45am. On the two busiest nights of the weekend you have 15 to 30 minutes less than you had at the same point last year.
LTA labels these times by the race day rather than by the calendar date the train physically pulls out, the same convention it used in 2025. Since that phrasing can be read two ways and timings can still be fine-tuned, follow the advice in LTA's own brochure: confirm last train timings at the Passenger Service Centre in any MRT station, or check the official guide.
Which MRT station serves your gate
Straight from LTA's Annex A, so you get off at the right station instead of walking the long way round the circuit:

All pedestrian underpasses and overhead bridges stay open, and most pedestrian routes remain usable apart from those inside the F1 Circuit Park. Taxis and private hire cars may only pick up and drop off at designated points and driveways.
Car parks
Open to the public (subject to availability): Suntec City, Millenia Walk and Marina Square. Suntec City is reached via Rochor Road to Temasek Boulevard and Temasek Avenue. Millenia Walk and Marina Square can also be reached through the Access Lane along Raffles Boulevard during off-peak hours on the days listed in LTA's guide.
Closed to the public: the car parks at the Singapore Flyer, Esplanade, Singapore Recreation Club, Singapore Cricket Club and the Empress Place area.
What this actually means for you
If you hold a race ticket: take the train, and know your gate's station from the table above. Budget for the last train being earlier than last year, particularly on Sunday night when the Grand Prix finishes latest.
If you live or work in the Marina Centre: your two reliable ways in are Rochor Road to Temasek Boulevard, and the Access Lane in its published windows. Saturday and Sunday are the hard days, with nothing after 1pm.
If you commute through the city: Monday 12 October is the one to plan for. The corridors reopen 5.30am to 10am and 5pm to 8.30pm, so a normal-hours commute is workable, but anything outside those windows is not.
If you are just going out for dinner: book somewhere outside the perimeter on 10 and 11 October, or accept that you are arriving and leaving by MRT.
Fine print
Road closures, access timings and train extensions are set by LTA and the race organiser and can be adjusted closer to the event. LTA advises the public and F1 ticket holders to plan journeys in advance using the official Road Access and Public Transport Guide at go.gov.sg/f1, and to confirm last train timings at MRT Passenger Service Centres. In the event of high traffic volume, admission to the access roads may be restricted except for police vehicles, emergency vehicles and vehicles with valid access passes.
