Where to get Japanese curry rice in Singapore right now, from Monster Curry's $9.90 weekday lunch and Kuro Kare's nett-priced 36-hour black curry to Hokkaido soup curry and a halal option. Prices, outlets and hours were checked on 22 October 2026.
Thick, glossy roux over rice is one of the cheapest sit-down comfort meals left in Singapore malls, if you know which sets to order.
> Quick view: best overall is Monster Curry's $9.90++ weekday lunch set; the specialists run $12.90-$21.90; Kuro Kare's lunch is nett, everyone else adds about 20% for service charge and GST.
How to choose
- Work out the real bill. "++" means 10% service charge and then 9% GST, so Monster Curry's $9.90++ lunch set comes to about $11.87, still the cheapest sit-down plate here. Kuro Kare's $12.90 lunch is genuinely $12.90.
- Go on a weekday. Both Monster deals skip weekends, public holidays and their eves, and Kuro Kare is closed on weekends altogether.
- Thick roux or soup? Monster, Maji, Kuro Kare and CoCo serve classic thick curry over rice. Soup Curry by Ki-setsu is a thin, spiced broth with rice on the side, closer to a stew.
- Halal diners: Monster Planet is the only halal concept on this list. The other five are not halal-certified.
How we checked
Prices, outlets and hours were read on 22 October 2026 from each brand's own channels: Monster Curry's and Monster Planet's outlet and promotion pages and posters, Kuro Kare's September 2026 lunch and dinner menu PDFs, Soup Curry by Ki-setsu's October 2026 menu, Maji Curry's official Singapore menu page and CapitaLand's Funan, Plaza Singapura and Bugis+ directories. Maji Curry and CoCo Ichibanya do not publish current Singapore prices online, which is why their prices are marked as a guide or left out. Prices can change without notice.
