How to choose a board game cafe

  • Cheapest per hour: Team Board Game ($3, or $10 for 4+ hours on a weekday) beats everyone, but there is no table service.
  • Cheapest with drinks included: Pixels and Pieces' 3-hour board game package ($13.90 Mon-Thu, nett) or The Mind Cafe's 2-hour package ($17.90 before service charge and GST).
  • Coming for dinner anyway: King and the Pawn waives its $10-$15 cover once your table spends over $60 a head on food and drinks.
  • Playing all night: Pixels and Pieces Serangoon and ME Games Tanjong Pagar both stay open 24 hours (self-service overnight), and The Mind Cafe runs to 3am on Fridays, Saturdays and public holiday eves.
  • Heavy strategy games or D&D: GuildHall's $12 all-day pass means no meter running on a four-hour game.

Tips before you go

  • Go Monday to Thursday. Every cafe here charges more on Fridays, weekends, public holidays and their eves, often by $2 an hour or $5 on the cover.
  • Count the extras. The Mind Cafe and King and the Pawn add 10% service charge and GST on food and packages; Pixels and Pieces is nett, and ME Games' prices already include both.
  • Book for the December holidays. Popular games and private rooms go fast during the year-end school holidays, and ME Games may ask for a deposit.
  • Check the closing days. King and the Pawn and GuildHall are closed on Mondays, and Fuzzies shuts entirely for private events.

How we checked

Every rate above was read on 8 November 2026 from each cafe's own website: The Mind Cafe's rates page and July 2026 menu, King and the Pawn's homepage, the Pixels and Pieces price lists for both outlets, ME Games' pricing page, Team Board Game's Rent A Table page, GuildHall's homepage and Fuzzies' rates page. None of these offers prints an end date; they are standing rates, so we say so rather than guess one.
