The 24-hour PSI reached 152 in central Singapore at 5pm on 12 October 2026, and N95 masks are going the way air purifiers went. We checked six places that sell them for price and stock on the same day. A box of twenty 3M 8210 masks costs $30.03 at Horme Hardware, $36.03 on Amazon.sg and $42 at Guardian, while FairPrice Online has sold out of every N95 and KN95 it lists.
PSI hit 152 in central Singapore at 5pm today, and masks are the next thing to sell out.
> Quick view: cheapest real N95 is the 3M 8210 at Horme, $30.03 for 20; most stores charge $1.17 to $2.10 a mask; FairPrice Online is sold out, so do not count on it.
Do you actually need an N95 at PSI 152?
Probably not for the walk to the MRT. MOH's haze guidance says N95 masks are generally not needed for short-term exposure such as commuting, and not needed indoors. They are meant for healthy people who must be outdoors for several hours when air quality is hazardous (PSI above 300). Elderly people, pregnant women and anyone with heart or lung disease should ask their own doctor whether to wear one.
What does matter at 152: surgical and cloth masks do not filter PM2.5, so they are not haze protection. If you are going to wear something for a long outdoor shift, make it an N95 or KN95 that fits.
How we checked
Every price and stock status above was read on 12 October 2026, the day the 24-hour PSI reached 152 in central Singapore, off each seller's own site: Horme's 3M 8210 product page, Watsons' and Guardian's online stores, the Amazon.sg listing, NOAH's 8210 page and FairPrice Online's search. Stock is moving by the hour, so treat "in stock" as a snapshot, not a promise.
Buying tips
- Check the marking. A real N95 is printed with NIOSH and an approval number (the 3M 8210 carries TC-84A-0007). KN95 masks follow China's GB2626 standard instead.
- Fit beats brand. Pinch the nose clip, make sure the straps sit above and below your ears, and check that air does not leak around the edges when you breathe out.
- Not for young children. N95s are sized for adult faces and do not seal properly on small children. Keep kids indoors with the windows shut instead.
- One mask is not one day forever. Swap it when it gets damp, dirty, damaged or noticeably harder to breathe through.
- Skip unknown marketplace sellers if you can. The authorised channels above are cheaper anyway.
