Takashimaya Square, Basement 2 has turned back into a mooncake hall. The Mid Autumn Festive Celebration 2026 opened Thursday 20 August and runs to Friday 25 September 2026 — which is Mid-Autumn day itself, so the fair closes on the night everyone actually eats the things.
> Quick view: Singapore's biggest mooncake fair · Takashimaya Square, B2, 391A Orchard Road · 20 Aug – 25 Sep 2026, daily 10am – 9.30pm · 61 brands, and 539 items live on Takashimaya's own online store as we write · early bird is on now — but it is not one flat rate, and the ceiling on the live store is 35%, not the "up to 30%" the announcement gave · the hotel names most people come for are not discounted at all.
The number everyone repeated is too low
Takashimaya's announcement promised early bird savings of up to 30%, and every write-up since has copied that line. Open the store and the deepest cut on the shelf is 35% — Swiss Cottage Bakery's SG Bundles, five of them, all marked down by more than the press release said was possible.
| Brand | Early bird | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Swiss Cottage Bakery | −35% | SG Bundle A $73.60 → $47.84 |
| Bread and Butter Bakehouse | −30% | Mini Piglet baked pastry 4pcs $26.80 → $18.80 |
| Tily Tea | −20% | Signature Treasure $98.00 → $78.40 |
| Rasa Sayang | −10% | Kue Lapis Original (Large) $86.00 → $77.40 |
| Goodwood Park Hotel | none | Assorted Nuts with Ham ('Kum Toy') 4pcs $100.00 |
That last row is the one to sit with.
The early bird is per brand, not per fair
"Up to 30% off at the Takashimaya fair" reads like a fair-wide sale. It is not. Each brand sets its own early bird, and a meaningful number of them set it at zero.
Goodwood Park Hotel — one of the marquee names, the one with the queue — carries no early bird at all. Its Lotus Seed Paste with Four Yolks (4pcs) is $100.00, the Assorted Nuts with Ham ('Kum Toy') 4pcs is $100.00, and the Classic Baked Mooncakes with Artisanal Tea Set is $76.00. Those are the prices, today, with the early bird supposedly running.
So the practical rule is the opposite of what the headline suggests: the discount tracks the smaller bakeries, not the hotels. If you were planning to "wait for the early bird" on a hotel box, there is nothing to wait for.
What is actually marked down right now
Read off Takashimaya's own online store on 23 August 2026:
Swiss Cottage Bakery — 35% off, the deepest on the floor
| Bundle | U.P. | Early bird |
|---|---|---|
| SG Bundle A | $73.60 | $47.84 |
| SG Bundle B | $69.60 | $45.24 |
| SG Bundle C | $70.60 | $45.89 |
| SG Bundle D | $68.60 | $44.59 |
| SG Bundle E | $67.60 | $43.94 |
Bread and Butter Bakehouse — 30% off, and the cheapest way into a snowskin box
- Mini truffle snowskin 4pcs (Champagne, Cassis Vodka, Orange Whiskey, Pistachio Kunafa, Yuzu Apricot, Crisps Hazelnut, Tangerine Osmanthus, Strawberry Balsamic) — $54.50 → $38.15. The first three contain alcohol, which the listing states plainly; that matters if the box is going to a colleague or a temple.
- Traditional 2pc baked boxes (Mixed Nuts; Pure White Lotus, Double Egg Yolk with Roasted Melon Seeds; Pure White Lotus with Macadamia; Sugar Free Pure White Lotus) — $54.50 → $38.15
- Mini Piglet Series, which is where the money is: Baked Mooncake Pastry 4pcs $26.80 → $18.80, with Premium Pineapple Paste 4pcs $38.80 → $27.20, Premium Japanese Red Bean Snowskin 4pcs $28.80 → $20.20, Custard Snowskin 4pcs $28.80 → $20.20
Tily Tea — 20% off: Signature Treasure, Blessing Box and Radiant Box $98.00 → $78.40; Bloom Box Plus $80.00 → $64.00; Bloom Box and Blessing Tower $58.00 → $46.40; Mini Jelly Sac $28.00 → $22.40.
Rasa Sayang — 10% off, which is the fair's reminder that it is not only mooncakes: Kue Lapis Original Large $86.00 → $77.40, Prunes Large $89.00 → $80.10, the half-loaves (Prunes, Pineapple, Pandan, Coffee, Rainbow) $46–$47 → $41.40–$42.30, Surabaya Cake $46.00 → $41.40, Chocolate Lapis Deluxe $59.00 → $53.10, and the snack range (emping, prawn sticks, tempeh chips) $16–$28 → $14.40–$25.20.
The stacking trick nobody mentions
Takashimaya is running a site-wide code on its own online store while the fair is on: DBP25 — $25 off every $250 spent. That is another 10% on an order that clears $250, and mooncake gifting orders clear $250 easily once you are buying three or four boxes.
Two honest caveats. The banner carries the standard *T&Cs apply*, and Takashimaya does not print the exclusion list on the banner itself — so treat the stack as something to confirm in the cart before you count on it, not a promise. And the threshold is a step, not a slope: $249 gets you nothing, $250 gets you $25. If you are at $230, one more small box is free money.
The seven aisles
Takashimaya splits the fair into seven categories, and the split is worth knowing before you walk in, because B2 is not small:
Hotels & Restaurants · Specialty & Traditional · Overseas Brands · Baked Skin Mooncakes · Snow Skin Mooncakes · Durian Mooncakes · Exquisite Gifts & Tea Selections
The announced line-up is 61 brands — a number Takashimaya clearly enjoyed in SG61 year. New this season are Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza, ORIG.CO, The Ice Cream & Cookie Co. and Chocoelf. Returning are Goodwood Park Hotel, Hong Kong MX, The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Shangri-La Singapore, Home's Favourite, Baker's Oven, JU Signatures, Mdm Ling Bakery, La Levain, SUNS Singapore and Pryce Tea.
Practical things the fair page does not tell you
- Freshness is the reason not to buy everything on day one. Takashimaya's own product listings say the baked mooncakes are handcrafted with no preservatives and advise eating them within 5 days. Buying a hotel box on 23 August for a 25 September reunion is not a plan.
- Not every listing is in the hall. Items are marked "Both Instore and Online (Subject to Availability)" — the online catalogue and the B2 floor are not guaranteed to be the same set on the same day.
- Gift wrapping is not universal. Several mooncake listings are explicitly not eligible for gift wrapping — the boxes are already presentation packaging, but if you were counting on Takashimaya's wrap for a corporate gift, check the item first.
- Alcohol is in more boxes than you would guess. Bread and Butter's Champagne, Cassis Vodka and Orange Whiskey snowskins all say so on the label.
- The fair ends on the festival, not after it. 25 September is Mid-Autumn day. There is no clearance weekend afterwards to wait for.
Should you go now or later?
Go now if you want the 35% and 30% boxes — Swiss Cottage and Bread and Butter are priced to move early, and early bird pricing on a fair floor is the one thing that reliably disappears before the stock does.
Go later if you want a Goodwood Park, Ritz-Carlton or Shangri-La box — they are at full price now and there is no early bird to lose, so buy them close to the date and eat them fresh.
Go in the morning. The hall opens with the store at 10am and runs to 9.30pm; the last ten days before 25 September at a B2 mooncake fair are not a browsing experience.
