The number most people will get wrong

The four flavours bought as singles come to $25 + $22 + $22 + $22 = $91. The Assorted 4-Piece with Keepsake Box holds exactly one of each of those four and costs $85.

So the box is $6 cheaper than its own contents, and the keepsake box itself is effectively free. Apply the code and the gap survives — $68 for the box against $72.80 for the four singles. There is no arithmetic in which buying loose gets you the set for less. The single pieces are there for people who want *two* of one flavour, or one mooncake as a small gift; they are not the budget route.

If you want a different split — two coffee, two pandan, say — that is the Mix & Match box at $90 ($72 with the code), $5 above the assorted one. Two rules attach to it: maximum 2 white-lotus-with-single-yolk pieces per box, and you must write your flavours into the "Additional Information" field at checkout. Miss that field and, in the resort's own words, it reserves the right to send an assortment at its discretion.

The fine print

  1. "Before 31 August 2026" is the banner's exact wording — not "till 31 August". Read literally, Sunday 30 August is the last qualifying day. Order by then.
  2. Delivery is a flat $35 per location, free only from 50 boxes and above. One box delivered is $68 + $35 = $103, against $85 if you simply collect it at full price. The fee is double what the code saves on a single box.
  3. Self-collection is from the booth in the Lobby, Level 1, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, 60 Mandai Lake Road S(729979), 10am–7.30pm daily.
  4. Collection runs 21 Aug – 25 Sep 2026. The last day is Mid-Autumn Festival itself (Fri 25 Sep), so a late collection is possible — but the *discount* is decided weeks earlier, at purchase.
  5. No minimum spend, per-customer cap or excluded item is published for the code. As posted it covers the boxes, the singles and the tea.

What you are actually eating

Four baked mooncakes, each embossed with a different resident of the reserve:

  • Pangolin — classic white lotus paste with a single salted egg yolk.
  • Panda — rose tea paste with lychee and wolfberries.
  • Macaw — pandan and coconut with melon seeds.
  • GibbonOwa black coffee with melon seeds and white lotus.

The coffee one is the reason to pay attention. Owa Coffee is shade-grown under rainforest canopy in Central Java by the Coffee and Primate Conservation Project run by SwaraOwa — a scheme Mandai Nature supports, and to which Mandai commits to buying the bulk of the annual harvest, giving farmers a reason to keep the forest standing rather than clear it. The gibbon on the mooncake is the Javan (silvery) gibbon the project protects. It is a rare case of a festive gift box where the flavour note is also the conservation story.

How it sits against the rest of the market

At $68 for four with the code, this lands at $17 a piece — well under the hotel mooncake norm, and above the traditional bakeries, where a single piece starts around $9.45. If you want the keepsake box and the story, this is competitive; if you want volume for the office, the bakeries still win on unit price. And if you are comparing early birds, Raffles Singapore is also running 20% off online, but on a different clock — to 18 September, with its physical booth already stepping down.
