Sheng Siong's National Day ad went into the papers today, and the pricing has a theme. Nine separate items in the catalogue are priced at exactly $6.10 — SG61, rendered as a shelf price — and sitting above them is a purchase-with-purchase ladder built on $61.

The $6.10 wall

Nine things in this catalogue cost $6.10. Two of them are purchase-with-purchase (marked below), the rest are straight shelf prices:

The Coke carton is the outlier worth planning a trip around: $6.10 for 24 cans works out to about 25 cents a can, against roughly 88 cents at the usual $21.15. It is a purchase-with-purchase item, so read the next section before you count on it.

How the $61 purchase-with-purchase works

The mechanic, in Sheng Siong's own words: every $61 spent entitles you to purchase the featured product at the special price on the specified date, limited to one set of each featured product per $61 spent. Spend $122, take two sets.

Three things decide whether this works for you:

• CDC vouchers count. The ad states the minimum spend of $61 can be met "using any payment modes, including CDC Supermarket Vouchers". If you still have vouchers to burn, they get you over the threshold.
• What doesn't count towards the $61: other ongoing PWP promotional items, tobacco, alcohol, Stage 1 & 2 infant formula milk powder, disposable carrier bag charges, phone cards and Sheng Siong vouchers.
• The date matters more than the catalogue. Each PWP product is tied to its own window, not to the whole 11 days.

Only one of the five PWP windows has been announced

The catalogue splits the run into five windows — and prints the products for exactly one of them:

Four of the five boxes carry a QR code and the line *"Follow our Facebook page for the great deals!"* — so the National Day weekend items (8–10 Aug, covering National Day itself on Sunday 9 August and the holiday in lieu on Monday 10 August) are still under wraps. Check Sheng Siong's Facebook page a day or two ahead rather than assuming today's items carry over.

• Savings percentages are calculated off Sheng Siong's own usual prices, which is what the "U.P." figures above are.
• Standing discounts, as printed in the footer: 6% rebate on the BOC Sheng Siong Card, 5% on POSB Everyday, 5% on CIMB SMRT Platinum Visa; 4% Seniors Special Discount every Tuesday and Wednesday for Singaporeans and PRs aged 60+; 4% CHAS Special Discount every Thursday (CHAS Blue) and Friday (CHAS Orange), both till 31 December 2026. This ad does not state whether the 4% discounts apply on top of catalogue special prices — Sheng Siong's festive catalogues have previously excluded special-priced items from them, so check at the counter rather than assume.

The best play

If you are going once, go in the 31 July – 1 August window and build a $61 basket you were going to buy anyway — rice, oil, tissues, the housebrand block — then add the $6.10 Coke carton on top. That single item is a $15.05 saving, which is most of the value in the whole ad. Household staples at $6.10 (Dove, Dettol hand wash, Selleys, the dishwashing refill) are straight shelf prices and hold for the full 11 days, so they can wait.
