Novela, the homegrown members-only beauty chain, has added a cheaper way in. Since 28 September 2026 its new VIP Lite Pass costs S$30 for two months and unlocks the same VIP prices as its S$120-a-year Gold membership. The old VIP Silver tier is gone.

What the pass gets you
Novela splits its customers into Guests, who pay retail, and paid VIP members, who see a second, lower price on almost everything. Until now the cheapest membership was VIP Silver at S$60 a quarter. From 28 September Novela's membership terms list only two plans for sale:

Lite is the price list and nothing else. Novela's homepage pitches it as "Not ready for GOLD? Start Lite".

The La Mer lotion alone saves S$142, almost five times the pass. On cheaper items the maths is tighter: Avène saves S$14, so you need a few of those before the S$30 is back.
The fine print
- Two calendar months from payment. The start and end dates show in your account. Lite does not renew automatically, so it simply lapses.
- Non-refundable once the membership period has started.
- "Eligible products" only. Novela's terms let it mark items as non-VIP, clearance or promotional.
- Online and store prices can differ, Novela's terms say, so check both if it matters.
- No membership return privilege. Lite members get only the standard Refund Policy, and Novela will not take back opened beauty products unless they are defective.
- Personal use only. Sharing a login or buying for others on one membership can get the account suspended.
- Upgrading to Gold during a Lite period is allowed, but Gold only starts after the Lite period ends.
Lite or Gold?
Gold is S$10 a month and Lite is S$15, so Gold is cheaper over a year. Five Lite passes cost S$150, more than Gold's S$120, and Gold adds stamps, deliveries, returns and a Birthday pack. Lite makes sense if you shop at Novela in one or two bursts a year. A pass bought in mid-October covers 11.11, Black Friday and most of December.
Tips
- Write the list first. The pass pays for itself on one luxury skincare or fragrance purchase, but not on a few drugstore top-ups.
- Check prices in store before you pay. Novela's online catalogue now needs a login, so a store visit is the easiest way to see a VIP price first. You can buy the pass at the counter.
- Time it for a sale. Novela ran 11.11 and Black Friday sales last year. Buying the pass in October means those dates fall inside your two months.
