What you get
The poster shows the classic set: two slices of toast with kaya and a slab of cold butter, a pair of soft-boiled eggs and a cup of black kopi in a floral cup. The terms only say "Kaya Toast Set (2 pcs)", so check at the counter which drinks you can pick.
Nan Yang Dao does not publish its dine-in set price online. For reference, its own online store lists the thick butter kaya toast (2 pcs) at $3.70, the 4-piece at $7.20 and a hot kopi at $2.90, before any service charge. Half off one of two sets works out to 25% off the pair, whatever the set costs at your outlet.
The fine print
These come straight from the terms printed on Nan Yang Dao's poster:
- Second set only. It is 50% off your second set of kaya toast.
- Kaya Toast Set (2 pcs) only. Other toasts, such as the peanut butter kaya or otah egg toast, are not included.
- Selected outlets only. Nan Yang Dao does not say which ones.
- One discounted set per transaction. A group of four needs to pay as two separate pairs to get two discounts, if the outlet allows it.
- No stacking. It is not valid with other promotions, discounts, vouchers or membership privileges.
- While stocks last. The chain can change or withdraw the promotion without notice.
- Service charge and GST. Prices on the poster are before these.
Which outlets?
The poster only says "selected Nan Yang Dao outlets". The chain lists 16 in Singapore: Hillion Mall, PLQ Mall, Anchorvale Village, Thomson Plaza, Bugis+, Sun Plaza, Century Square, The Star Vista, Parkway Parade, 100AM, The Seletar Mall, West Mall, Jurong Point, Tiong Bahru Plaza, Lentor Modern and Hougang Mall. Each outlet's phone number is on its locations page (nanyangdao.com.sg/contact), so a quick call saves a wasted trip.
Tips
- Pick the right deal. Nan Yang Dao also runs a 20% tea time offer on dine-in from 2.30pm to 5pm on weekdays at selected outlets. The two cannot be combined. For two kaya toast sets alone, the half-price second set is better; add mains like laksa or nasi lemak and 20% off the whole bill can win.
- Go between 3pm and 5pm if your outlet runs both offers, so you can choose at the till.
- Jurong Point regulars also get a free ice cream with every dine-in, one per person while stocks last, according to the chain's own poster.
- Comparing chains? Our kaya toast guide lines up Ya Kun, Toast Box, Killiney and the heritage shops on price.
