Durian season, but civilised: Lobby Lounge at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza has brought back its Mao Shan Wang Durian Afternoon Tea for 1 July–31 August 2026 — a sweet-and-savoury tower built around Musang King, with free-flow TWG teas and Lavazza coffee, right on Orchard Road.

> Quick view: Mao Shan Wang Durian Afternoon Tea · Lobby Lounge, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza (320 Orchard Rd) · 1 Jul–31 Aug 2026, daily 11am–9pm · $48++/pax Mon–Thu, $58++/pax Fri–Sun & PH · free-flow TWG tea + Lavazza coffee · champagne/sparkling tea on weekends · quote 'LL20OFF' for 20% off Fri–Sun (excl PH) · not halal.

What's on the tea

The spread leans hard into the King of Fruits on the sweet side, then keeps it grounded with a couple of savouries:

  • Mango Sago Durian Puff — the crowd-pleaser, mango-sago meets Mao Shan Wang.
  • Durian Cheesecake — creamy, dense, unmistakably durian.
  • Durian Yam Mochi Tart — durian and yam, chewy mochi base.
  • Durian Tiramisu with Lemongrass Jelly — the interesting one; lemongrass cuts the richness.
  • Smoked Duck Mango Brioche and a Grilled Mushroom & Miso Mayo Tartlet — the savoury balance so it's not all dessert.

It all comes with free-flow TWG teas and Lavazza coffee, and on weekends and public holidays you also get a flute of champagne or sparkling tea.

The price — and the 20%-off catch

  • Monday–Thursday: $48++ per person.
  • Friday–Sunday & public holidays: $58++ per person.

The sweetener: per the Lobby Lounge listing, quote 'LL20OFF' when you reserve for 20% off on Fridays–Sundays (excludes public holidays and special occasions) — that brings the weekend tea to roughly $46++ before charges. So the weekend with the discount lands close to the weekday base, but with the bubbly thrown in.

Mind the '++': the headline price is before the 10% service charge and 9% GST, so a weekday $48++ tea is about $56 nett, and a $58++ weekend tea about $68 nett (before any LL20OFF discount). Factor that in.

The fine print

  1. Seasonal run — 1 July to 31 August 2026 only; a durian dessert tea, not a whole-durian buffet.
  2. Daily 11am–9pm at Lobby Lounge, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, 320 Orchard Road, S238865 (steps from Orchard MRT).
  3. Not halal-certified.
  4. Reservations recommended (walk-ins possible): 6831 4605 or mhrs.sindt.fb.reservations@marriotthotels.com.
  5. Prices, menu items and the LL20OFF code are set by the hotel and can change — confirm when you book.

Worth it?

For an Orchard hotel tea, $48++ with free-flow premium tea and coffee is on the sensible end — and if durian is your love language, a curated Mao Shan Wang tower beats standing over a newspaper of husks in the heat. Go Mon–Thu for the lower base, or Fri–Sun with LL20OFF if you want the champagne and don't mind the weekend crowd.
