Korean BBQ buffet gets cheaper tomorrow, and messier. I'm Kim Korean BBQ has three separate promotions opening on 1 September, all of them published on its operator's own site, and the two that made it into the deal roundups are not the ones that save you the most.

> Quick view: students eat 1-for-1 from 1 to 13 Sep, about $9.53 nett a head at lunch. The September Early Bird is $14.90++ lunch / $21.90++ dinner and runs to 31 October. The 4+1 group deal gives one free seat per four payers, 1 to 30 Sep. All three need a prior online booking with a code in Reservation Notes, and none of them stack.

What the buffet costs when nothing is on

Every calculation below sits on the rate card I'm Kim publishes on its own page, so you can check it yourself.

AdultStudent / SeniorChild (100-140cm)
Lunch (Mon-Sun)$18.90++$15.90++$9.90++
Dinner (Mon-Thu)$28.90++$26.90++$15.90++
Dinner (Fri-Sun, eve of PH, PH)$29.90++$27.90++$15.90++

Children under 100cm eat free at any sitting. Everything is quoted before the 10% service charge and 9% GST, which together multiply the menu price by about 1.2, so $18.90++ is $22.66 on the bill and $29.90++ is $35.85.

1. Student 1-for-1, and it lands on the school holidays

Two students pay for one buffet seat, 1 to 13 September 2026. The dates are not an accident: they cover Teachers' Day on Friday 4 September and the whole 5 to 13 September school break.

SittingTwo students normallyOn 1-for-1Each
Lunch, 2pm$38.13 nett$19.06 nett$9.53
Dinner, Mon-Fri 5.30pm$64.51 nett$32.25 nett$16.13
Dinner, Sat-Sun 5pm$66.90 nett$33.45 nett$16.73

A Korean BBQ buffet at $9.53 all-in is the cheapest number on this page by a distance, and it is cheaper than the Early Bird lunch that runs alongside it.

The conditions are tight and the restaurant states them plainly. You must book online first with 1+1 typed into Reservation Notes, or you will not be given the promo price at the table. Entry is at 2pm for lunch and 5.30pm (Mon-Fri) or 5pm (Sat-Sun) for dinner, nothing else. You need a valid Student Pass, you must be 23 or under, and there must be at least 2 paying students. Table time is 80 minutes. Bring a third student and they pay the ordinary student rate, per the restaurant's own worked example.

2. The September Early Bird, which almost nobody has written up

This is the offer the aggregators missed, and it is the one that runs longest: $14.90++ at lunch, $21.90++ at dinner, 1 September all the way to 31 October 2026.

NormalEarly BirdSaving
Lunch$22.66 nett$17.87 nett$4.79
Dinner (Mon-Thu)$34.65 nett$26.26 nett$8.39
Dinner (Fri-Sun/PH)$35.85 nett$26.26 nett$9.59

But read it against August's version before you call it a bargain. The offer that closed yesterday was $12.90++ at lunch and $20.90++ at dinner, on a 90-minute table, with lunch entry open from 11.30am to 12.30pm. September's is $2 dearer at lunch and $1 dearer at dinner, cuts the table to 80 minutes, and halves the lunch window to 11.30am to 12pm. Dinner entry stays at 5.30pm to 6.30pm on weekdays and 5pm to 6pm at weekends and on public holidays.

So the headline is a price rise dressed as a promotion. It is still a real discount off the rack rate, but it is a smaller one than the same restaurant was giving a week ago.

3. The 4+1 group deal, and why the Early Bird beats it

One diner eats free with every four full-paying diners, 1 to 30 September, lunch and dinner, any day. The free seat has to be the lowest-paying person at the table, which is the rule that decides whether this is worth taking.

Here is the same table of five, priced both ways:

Table of 5 adults4+1September Early BirdBetter by
Dinner, Mon-Thu$138.60 nett$131.29 nettEarly Bird, $7.31
Dinner, Fri-Sun$143.40 nett$131.29 nettEarly Bird, $12.11
Lunch$90.64 nett$89.33 nettEarly Bird, $1.32

The group deal loses every time, because paying four adult rack rates is simply more than paying five discounted ones.

4+1 earns its keep in exactly two situations. The first is timing: the Early Bird only admits you between 11.30am and 12pm, or between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on a weekday, so a group that can only meet at 7.30pm has 4+1 and nothing else. The second is a mixed table. Because the free seat goes to the lowest payer, four adults plus one child at a Monday to Thursday dinner get the child's $15.90++ wiped, worth about $19.07, and there is no Early Bird equivalent of that.

One cost the poster does not mention. I'm Kim's published dining duration gives a party of five or more 110 minutes at dinner. The 4+1 promo caps the table at 90. You are handing back 20 minutes of a grill-it-yourself buffet for the discount, which at a Korean BBQ table is not a rounding error.

The rules that apply to all three

  • Book online first. Type the code into Reservation Notes: 1+1 for the student deal, EB for the Early Bird, 4+1 for the group deal. The restaurant states that guests who did not book with the code will not be given the promo price on their bill chit.
  • Follow the Facebook or Instagram page. All three promos carry this line.
  • Tell the host before you enter for the Early Bird and 4+1, so staff can verify and write the promo price onto the chit.
  • Nothing stacks. Each promo is "not applicable with other promos, vouchers & discounts".
  • Shorter tables. 80 minutes on the Early Bird and the Student 1-for-1, 90 on 4+1. Normal allowances are 90 minutes at lunch, 90 at dinner for 2 to 4 people, 110 for 5 or more, and 70 for a single diner.
  • Minimum 2 paying diners to dine at all; 4+1 needs at least 4 paying diners and forbids splitting the bill.
  • All prices are ++, so add the 10% service charge and 9% GST.

A one-day gap you can plan around

I'm Kim's August offers, the $22.90++ Sunday to Thursday dinner (code 2290) and the old $12.90++ / $20.90++ Early Bird, both ran to 30 August. The September set starts on 1 September. That leaves Monday 31 August as the one day this month with no I'm Kim promotion running at all, which is worth knowing if you were planning to eat there tonight. Wait until tomorrow and dinner drops by about $8.39.

There is also a standing Buy 2 Get 1 Free on alcohol, covering soju, makkoli and Hite beer, with no end date printed on the brand's page. The free bottle has to be of lower value than the two you paid for.

Where to go

I'm Kim Korean BBQ, School of the Arts, 1 Zubir Said Drive #01-04, Singapore 227968. It is the brand's only outlet. Five minutes' walk from Dhoby Ghaut MRT Exit A, three minutes from Bencoolen Exit B. Tel 6238 7218.

  • Mon-Fri: 11.30am to 4pm and 5.30pm to 10pm (Friday closes 10.30pm). Buffet counter closes 3.30pm and 9.30pm.
  • Sat, Sun & public holidays: 11.30am to 4.59pm and 5pm to 10.30pm. Buffet counter closes 4.30pm and 10pm.
  • Last online booking: weekday lunch 3pm, weekend lunch 4.30pm, Mon-Thu dinner 8.30pm, Fri-Sun dinner 9pm.

Seating is at the restaurant's discretion, special requests are not guaranteed, and a minimum of 2 people per table applies whether or not you are using a promo. If the online slots are full, the restaurant asks you to call.
