Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu — Japan's largest gyukatsu speciality chain, with more than 70 outlets worldwide — opened its third Singapore outlet at Parkway Parade in late July, and the grand-opening lunch promo is the cheapest this brand has ever been here: S$18.90 for a two-cutlet Zen set, running 3 to 31 August 2026.
> Quick view: Sirloin & Yasai Gyukatsu Zen $18.90 · Sirloin & Salmon Gyukatsu Zen $19.90 · 3–31 Aug 2026 · Mon–Thu 11am–4pm only, excluding eves and public holidays · Parkway Parade EXCLUSIVE · prices are before 10% service charge and 9% GST (~$22.66 nett) · separate Kids Dine Free at the same outlet and same window.
What you get for $18.90
Both promo items are full Gyukatsu Zen sets, not a stripped-down lunch plate. On Katsugyu's menu a Zen set means a personal konro hot-stone grill — the beef arrives deliberately rare so you finish each slice yourself — plus refillable Japanese rice and julienne cabbage, red miso soup and the condiment tray: dashi soy sauce, fresh wasabi, sansho pepper salt, citrus sauce with grated radish, and Kyoto dashi curry for dipping.
| Grand-opening lunch set | Promo price | ~Nett |
|---|---|---|
| Sirloin & Yasai Gyukatsu Zen — sirloin beef cutlet + seasonal vegetable katsu | $18.90 | ~$22.66 |
| Sirloin & Salmon Gyukatsu Zen — sirloin beef cutlet + premium salmon katsu | $19.90 | ~$23.86 |
Is that actually cheap? The regular menu, for reference
These are Katsugyu's own published prices from its official English menu:
| Regular Zen set | Price | ~Nett |
|---|---|---|
| Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen | $25 | ~$29.98 |
| Yasai Katsu Zen (vegetable) | $25 | ~$29.98 |
| Sirloin + Chuck Flap / Sirloin + Tenderloin (half & half) | $29 | ~$34.77 |
| Sirloin + Beef Tongue (half & half) | $32 | ~$38.37 |
| Chuck Flap Zen / Seafood Katsu Zen | $32 | ~$38.37 |
| Beef Tongue Gyukatsu Zen | $37 | ~$44.36 |
| A5 Miyazaki Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen | $55 | ~$65.95 |
So the honest comparison is $18.90 against $29 — a two-item set at roughly 35% under the cheapest regular half-and-half, and still below the $25 single-cutlet Sirloin Zen. Nett, that's about $12.11 saved per person.
The three catches
- Parkway Parade only. The artwork says *"Exclusively at Parkway Parade"* — Raffles City and One Holland Village are not in it.
- Public holidays are excluded, so Monday 10 August is out. The footer reads *"Only available from Monday to Thursday, 11am – 4pm (Excluding Eve & Public holiday)"*. National Day 2026 lands on Sunday 9 August, which makes Monday 10 August the holiday in lieu — a Monday inside the promo window that doesn't count. Counting from Tuesday 11 August, there are exactly 12 qualifying lunch sittings left before it ends on Monday 31 August.
- The price is before charges. Katsugyu's menu states *"Prices subjected to 10% service charge and 9% GST"* — multiply by 1.199. $18.90 → ~$22.66; $19.90 → ~$23.86.
Kids Dine Free, running alongside
Since 22 July 2026, at the same outlet and in the same Mon–Thu 11am–4pm window, children 10 and under get one free kids' set with every two Zen sets ordered. On the official menu that's the Minced Wagyu Children's Set at $12 (100g minced wagyu beef katsu, Japanese rice, Kyoto dashi curry, cabbage, corn kernels, orange juice) or the Chicken Karaage Children's Set at $9 (3pcs, same sides). Food media have also reported an A5 Wagyu Beef Curry kids set at the new outlet — it isn't on the February 2026 menu, so confirm the line-up at the table.
What isn't published: whether the discounted $18.90/$19.90 sets count as the two qualifying Zen sets. The windows are identical, which suggests they're meant to work together — but ask when you order. If they stack, two adults and a child is $37.80 before charges, about $45.32 nett.
Tips before you go
- Go Tuesday to Thursday. Mondays inside this window are the ones most likely to collide with a public holiday, and 10 August already does.
- Use the refills. Rice and julienne cabbage are refillable on Zen sets only — that's what turns a $22.66 lunch into a full one.
- One Zen set per person is Katsugyu's house rule, explicitly not applied to children below 6.
- Last order is 9pm, but the promo stops at 4pm — this is a lunch deal, not an early-dinner one.
- Weigh the trip. It's east-side only. If Parkway Parade isn't near work or home, the fare there and back can swallow the $12 you saved.
