Good news for families: as part of Budget 2026, a fresh $500 per child is landing this July 2026 — the Child LifeSG Credits. Every Singapore Citizen child aged 12 and below gets it, no application needed. But the name matters, and a lot of parents get it wrong, so let's clear up the biggest confusion first.
> Quick view: $500 per Singapore Citizen child aged 12 and below (born 2014–2026), disbursed in July 2026 via the LifeSG app — spendable at everyday merchants, not a CDA cash top-up. It's automatic. Separately, the older 2025 credits already expired on 6 July 2026 with no extension.
First, the big misconception: this is NOT a CDA top-up
Because it involves your child and a dollar figure, many people assume this is a top-up into the Child Development Account (CDA) — the co-matched Baby Bonus savings account. It isn't.
- A CDA top-up is government-*matched* savings that sits inside the CDA and can only be spent at approved institutions (childcare centres, Baby Bonus-network clinics, and so on).
- Child LifeSG Credits are a one-off digital credit disbursed to you — the parent, who is the child's CDA trustee — through the LifeSG app. You spend them yourself at ordinary merchants. Nothing is matched; nothing is locked into the CDA.
The closest mental model is the CDC Vouchers: money handed to households to spend at real shops — not CPF, not CDA savings.
How much, and who qualifies
| Detail | Child LifeSG Credits (Budget 2026) |
|---|---|
| Amount | $500 per child (per child, not per household) |
| Who | Singapore Citizen children aged 12 and below in 2026 (born 2014–2026) |
| Assessed as at | 1 June 2026 |
| Application | None — auto-assessed from MOE / MSF records |
So a family with three qualifying children receives $1,500 in total. It's Singapore Citizens only — PRs and foreign children are not covered.
When it lands — and why you shouldn't trust a specific "date"
Officially, disbursement is in July 2026 for children born 2014–2025. Children born in 2026 get theirs later, around April 2027 (aligned with birth registration).
One important caveat: MSF has not announced a specific calendar day within July. You may see messages forwarded around claiming an exact date — don't rely on them. The reliable move is to watch the LifeSG app (you'll get a notification) and the official MSF / SupportGoWhere channels for the precise drop.
How to spend your credits
Once they're in, using them is simple:
- Open the LifeSG app and go to your LifeSG Credits balance.
- At checkout, pay via PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR.
- It works at a wide range of physical and online merchants — groceries, pharmacies, utilities bills, and everyday household needs.
Use-it-or-lose-it: the 2025 batch has already expired
If you're a parent, you likely also received $500 in Child LifeSG Credits in 2025 (Budget 2025). Take note: that batch expired on 6 July 2026 — and the Government confirmed there is no extension, with the Minister of State noting the 12-month validity stands because ample notice was given. About 83% had been used by April 2026, and MSF sent final reminders in June 2026.
As of today, that deadline has already passed, so any leftover 2025 balance is forfeited (unused credits could earlier be donated to persons with disabilities and others in need). The lesson for the new July 2026 tranche: don't sit on it — mark your own reminder to spend the fresh $500 well before its own 12-month window closes.
Don't confuse it with the other 2026 payouts
Budget 2026 stacks several separate schemes. They don't cancel each other out — you can receive more than one — but they're paid differently and to different people:
| Payout | What it is | Who / when |
|---|---|---|
| Child LifeSG Credits | $500 per SC child, spend via LifeSG app | SC kids ≤12; July 2026 |
| GST Voucher – Cash | Up to $850 cash | Lower-income SC adults; Aug 2026 |
| Cost-of-Living Special Payment | $400–$600 cash | SC adults 21+, income-tested; Sep 2026 |
| CDC Vouchers | $500 per household, at heartland shops | All SC households |
Watch out for scams
MSF and gov.sg will never ask for your bank login, OTP or Singpass password to "release" your credits, and there's nothing to "claim" through a random link. Genuine credits simply appear in your LifeSG app. If a message asks you to pay a fee or enter details on an unfamiliar site, ignore it and check only via the official app or SupportGoWhere.
