Some welcome news landed this week for household budgets: the Ministry of Finance (MOF) has confirmed the August 2026 GST Voucher payout. About 1.5 million adult Singaporeans will receive up to $850 in cash, and about 710,000 seniors will get up to $450 topped up to their MediSave — roughly $1.4 billion disbursed in all.

> Quick view: Up to $850 cash for eligible adults, plus $150–$450 MediSave for seniors aged 65+, paid from 7 August 2026. Most people get it automatically — but first-time recipients must sign up by 14 July, and linking your NRIC to PayNow by 28 July gets your money first.

GSTV – Cash: how much you'll get

The cash amount depends on the Annual Value (AV) of your home — the figure IRAS assigns based on estimated annual rent:

Annual Value of home (as at 31 Dec 2025)GSTV – Cash (Aug 2026)
Up to $21,000$850
$21,001 to $31,000$450

Most HDB flats sit in the lower band, so the majority of eligible recipients get the full $850.

Who qualifies for GSTV – Cash

You'll receive GSTV – Cash if you:

  • Are a Singapore citizen living in Singapore;
  • Are aged 21 or above in 2026;
  • Had an Assessable Income of $39,000 or less for the Year of Assessment 2025 (i.e. income earned in 2024);
  • Live in a home with an AV of $31,000 or below as at 31 December 2025; and
  • Own not more than one property.

Seniors: up to $450 to your MediSave

If you're a Singapore citizen aged 65 or above in 2026 (and meet the same AV and property rules), you'll also get a GSTV – MediSave top-up credited to your CPF MediSave account. The amount rises with age:

Age in 2026AV up to $21,000AV $21,001–$31,000
65–74$250$150
75–84$350$250
85 and above$450$350

When the money lands

For most people this is automatic — no application needed if you've received government payouts before. Payments roll out according to how you're set up to receive them:

Payment modeGSTV – Cash from
PayNow-NRIC (fastest)7 August 2026
Bank transfer / GIROaround mid-August 2026
GovCasharound late August 2026

> The single most useful thing you can do: link your NRIC to PayNow with your bank. It's free, takes minutes in your banking app, and it puts you at the front of the queue — paid from 7 August rather than waiting till later in the month.

Two dates to act on

  • By 14 July 2026 — if you have *never* signed up for these government schemes before, sign up at govbenefits.gov.sg (log in with Singpass) so your payment reaches you in August.
  • By 28 July 2026 — link your NRIC to PayNow to get your GSTV – Cash at the earliest date, from 7 August.

Everyone else: you don't need to do anything. You'll get an SMS from the gov.sg sender ID before and after the money is credited (or a letter if you don't have a Singpass-registered mobile number).

Watch out for scams

MOF and gov.sg will never ask for your bank login, OTP or personal details by SMS or through a link. Genuine notifications come from the gov.sg sender ID and simply tell you the benefit has been credited — there's nothing to "claim" through a link. If in doubt, check your eligibility and payout status directly at govbenefits.gov.sg.

Check your eligibility and amount

Log in to govbenefits.gov.sg with Singpass to see exactly what you'll get and when. You can also confirm your home's AV via the IRAS portal.
