7 Cheapest EV Charging Networks in Singapore (2026): Rates per kWh, Idle Fees and Promos Compared

Public EV charging in Singapore costs about $0.55 to $0.89 per kWh in October 2026, and the network you pick matters less than the idle fees, card rebates and car-brand deals stacked on top. We compared seven operators' published rates, fees and live promotions.

Charging an EV in public can cost almost double the rate at home, so the operator and the fine print both matter.

> Quick view: cheapest per kWh is MNL from about $0.55; the big networks run $0.65-$0.89; the real catch is idle fees of $0.50 a minute once your car is full.

How we compared

Public charging rates in Singapore are set charger by charger, so no operator publishes one flat price. The AC and DC figures above are the typical (median) rates each network lists in its app, as tracked by the ChargeLah operator directory and cross-checked against Motorist's 14 September 2026 rate check. Network sizes come from the same directory, except CDG ENERGY's, which is the figure on its own site. Every promotion, idle fee and deadline was read on the operator's own website on 8 October 2026.

What it costs to charge at home vs in public

SP Group's household tariff for 1 October to 31 December 2026 is 31.16¢/kWh with GST, after a 10.4% cut. A 60 kWh battery charged from 20% to 80% takes about 36 kWh, which is roughly $11 at home, about $20 on MNL's AC rate and about $32 at an $0.89/kWh DC charger. If you can charge at home or on a condo plan, public charging is mainly for top-ups.

How to pay less for public charging

  • Charge at AC when you have time. DC fast charging costs 10¢ to 20¢ more per kWh on most networks.
  • Move the car on time. SP Mobility and Shell charge $0.50 a minute after the grace period, so a car left 80 minutes too long pays a $40 idle fee, more than the electricity.
  • Pick one card per network. A DBS yuu Visa on Charge+ or an HSBC card on SP Mobility cuts the effective rate by several cents per kWh.
  • Claim your car-brand benefit early. BYD's 2026 owners must choose one operator through BYD's form, and it can only be done once. BMW, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and others bundle free credits with Charge+ or Shell.
  • Check the overnight rule. At CDG ENERGY sites showing the overnight icon, a short top-up between 10pm and 2am still costs $15.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest EV charging in Singapore?

Per kWh, MNL had the lowest typical rates in October 2026, about $0.55/kWh AC and $0.65/kWh DC, but it has only about 36 public locations. Among the large networks, Charge+ is cheapest at about $0.65/kWh AC and $0.75/kWh DC, and Volt is cheapest for DC fast charging at about $0.70/kWh. Charging at home on SP's tariff is cheaper still at 31.16¢/kWh from October to December 2026.

How much does it cost to fully charge an EV in Singapore?

Multiply the kWh you add by the rate. Adding 36 kWh (20% to 80% of a 60 kWh battery) costs about $11 at home on SP's Q4 2026 tariff of 31.16¢/kWh, about $23 to $25 on a typical $0.65-$0.70/kWh public AC charger, and about $32 at an $0.89/kWh DC charger. Parking and any idle fee are extra.

What are EV idle fees in Singapore?

Idle fees apply when your car stays plugged in after charging ends. SP Mobility charges $0.50 a minute after a 30-minute grace period, from 10am to 10pm at HDB sites and selected locations (all day at petrol stations), capped at $40. Shell Recharge charges $0.50 a minute capped at $40, with only 15 minutes' grace at Shell stations and none at HDB or condo chargers. CDG ENERGY charges $0.50 per 5 minutes at selected sites from 8.30am to 10pm.

Which credit card is best for EV charging in Singapore?

It depends on the network you use most. On Charge+, the DBS yuu Visa Card earns up to 18% back in yuu Points when you meet the card's minimum spend. On SP Mobility, HSBC credit and debit cards add 1% on top of ChargeUP Rewards (up to 8% at Gold tier) until 31 December 2026, and new SP Mobility users get 50% back on their first charge, capped at $10. CDG ENERGY lists cashback for UOB credit cards.
