Dian Xiao Er's promotions page is carrying three separate weekday discounts at once, and they pay out very differently. The Happy Hour poster is the simple one: 30% off, Monday to Friday 2.30pm to 4.29pm, valid on dine-in and takeaway, with no outlet list attached. The Early Bird poster looks bigger but is split in two: 30% off is exclusive to City Square Mall, Downtown East, Great World, Lot One and Parkway Parade, and the other 14 Singapore outlets get 20%, in narrower windows (11am to 12pm and 4.30pm to 6pm on weekdays, 15% at every outlet on weekends) and with a 60-minute dining limit. Sitting across both is the Set Lunch for 2 at $36.80++ for members and $38.80++ otherwise, which is explicitly not valid with other promotions, so you have to choose. We priced the set's own dish list against Dian Xiao Er's published menu, and the answer is not the one the headline discount suggests: the three cheapest picks come to exactly $38.80 a la carte, so 30% off beats the set by $11.64, but the three priciest come to $52.20 and the gap narrows to $2.26, and once you add back the dessert and two bowls of rice that the set includes and the discount excludes, the set is ahead from the middle of the range upward. VivoCity is the outlier, where the same set runs only from 2.30pm to 4.29pm.
