Yishun is losing the building that gave the town centre its skyline, and this time the owner has put a date on it.
Yishun 10, the four-storey mall at 51 Yishun Central 1 that most northerners simply call GV Yishun, will cease operations on 2 March 2027. Owner Frasers Property announced the redevelopment on 2 September 2026, and in the same breath launched a public call for the building's history.
> Quick view: about six months of trading left. The mall closes 2 March 2027 and becomes roughly 110 homes over a retail podium, targeted for launch mid-2027 and completion 2031. The deadline that matters sooner is 31 October 2026, the cut-off to email your Yishun 10 photos, memorabilia and stories to yishun10memories@studiolapis.sg.

What was actually announced
This one came with a proper paper trail. Frasers Property Limited filed the announcement to SGX on the morning of 2 September 2026 and attached the full press release, so the facts below are the owner's own words rather than a secondhand report.
Two things were announced together. The first is the redevelopment: Yishun 10 will be rebuilt as a mixed-use development. The second is Yishun 10 Memories, an initiative to document and celebrate the building's place in the community, led by placemaking consultant Studio Lapis.
Ms Soon Su Lin, Chief Executive Officer of Frasers Property Singapore, said Yishun 10 "holds a special place in the hearts of many Singaporeans who grew up in its immediate community".
The timeline

The nearest deadline is not the closure. It is 31 October, and it is the only part of this that asks anything of you.
How to send something in
Email yishun10memories@studiolapis.sg by 31 October 2026.
Frasers Property is inviting former and current patrons, residents and tenants to share memories, photographs, memorabilia and other materials. Along with whatever you send, include:
- a brief introduction
- your connection to Yishun 10
- your contact details
Frasers Property has said material received after 31 October may still be considered, so it is worth sending even if you miss the date. There is no fee and no form to fill in.
What happens to it: preliminary plans include upcycling selected artefacts from Yishun 10, exploring ways to feature community stories, artworks and interpretive murals within the future development, and compiling an archive of contributed material. Frasers Property also says it is exploring ways for the community to gather and mark the building's history, with details to come.

Frasers Property calls it the first residential launch in Yishun Central in more than a decade. The site sits next to Yishun MRT station and the Yishun Integrated Transport Hub, and keeps the existing underground pedestrian link to Northpoint City, the largest suburban mall in the north, which the group holds through Frasers Centrepoint Trust. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, SAFRA Yishun, schools and parks are all within the immediate area, and the upcoming North-South Corridor runs nearby.
Why this building matters
Yishun 10 opened in 1992 and is widely reported as Singapore's first multiplex cinema, the format that made "ten screens under one roof" normal here. Its curved, silver, vaguely sci-fi facade with the finned tower up the middle has been a landmark for three decades and looks like nothing else in any HDB town centre.
Frasers Property's own release is more measured, describing the site's evolution as one of Singapore's pioneering suburban entertainment destinations. Either way, the point stands: for a generation of northern kids, this was where you watched your first film without a parent.
What is still unknown
Be careful with the details floating around, because the owner has not confirmed several of them.
- No tenant closing dates. Media reports list Golden Village, Arnold's Fried Chicken, Komala's and Sri Murugan among current tenants, but none has published a last day. Frasers Property's release names no tenant at all.
- No word on a cinema returning. There is a retail podium in the plan. There is no stated commitment to a cinema operator.
- The vacate date. The press release gives 2 March 2027 for operations ceasing. Some reports add that tenants are expected to be out by the end of 1 March 2027. Both point at the same weekend.
What to do about it
If you have a shoebox of old GV Yishun ticket stubs, that is now worth something to someone. Send it by 31 October.
If you just want one more film there, you have until early March 2027, but check the cinema's own listings nearer the time rather than assuming it trades to the last day.
And if you were waiting on a new launch in Yishun Central, mid-2027 is the date to watch. Nothing about pricing has been published, and nothing here is property advice. Confirm any details with Frasers Property directly.
