Typhoon Cafe has put its Taiwanese buffet on a kids-eat-free deal for the whole of September. One child below the age of 10 dines free with every 2 paying buffet adults, from 1 to 30 September 2026, at its only outlet, on level 4 of Plaza Singapura.
Then the restaurant's own terms take two thirds of the month back, and neither condition is anywhere on the poster: it runs Monday to Thursday only, and it is strictly for guests with a prior reservation, expressly not redeemable for walk-in diners.
> Quick view: 1 free child under 10 per 2 paying buffet adults at Typhoon Cafe, Plaza Singapura, 1 to 30 Sep 2026, Mon to Thu only, booking required. The free seat is worth $15.90++ at lunch or $18.90++ at dinner, which is $19.06 or $22.66 off the bill.
What the free seat is actually worth
Typhoon prices the child seat separately on its own buffet menu, so this one values itself. Every price below is from the brand's published May 2026 buffet menu, and every sitting is capped at 80 minutes.
| Sitting | Adult | Child (5-10) |
|---|---|---|
| Lunch early bird, 11.30am to 12pm | $19.90++ | $15.90++ |
| Lunch, 12pm to 2pm | $23.90++ | $15.90++ |
| Dinner early bird, 5.30pm to 6pm | $24.90++ | $18.90++ |
| Dinner, 6pm to 8pm | $28.90++ | $18.90++ |
Those are all before the 10% service charge and 9% GST, which multiply the bill by about 1.199. So the free child seat is worth $19.06 at lunch and $22.66 at dinner in real money.
Run a family of three through it on a qualifying Monday to Thursday:
| Party of 2 adults + 1 child | Normal | With the promo | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dinner, 6pm to 8pm | $76.70++ ($91.96 nett) | $57.80++ ($69.30 nett) | $22.66 |
| Lunch, 12pm to 2pm | $63.70++ ($76.38 nett) | $47.80++ ($57.31 nett) | $19.07 |
| Dinner early bird, 5.30pm | $68.70++ ($82.37 nett) | $49.80++ ($59.71 nett) | $22.66 |
| Lunch early bird, 11.30am | $55.70++ ($66.79 nett) | $39.80++ ($47.72 nett) | $19.07 |
The cheapest route is the 11.30am lunch early bird: two adults and a free child for $47.72 nett, which is about $15.91 a head for a Taiwanese buffet in the middle of Orchard Road. Scale it up and the saving scales with it: four adults and two children at dinner is $138.60 nett instead of $183.93.
The Monday-to-Thursday rule quietly does you a favour
Read the footnote on Typhoon's buffet menu and the restriction stops looking like one. The menu adds $3++ per person from Friday to Sunday, on public holidays, on special occasions and on their eves. Monday to Thursday are the only days that escape it.
So the days the promotion allows are also the days the buffet is cheapest. A Friday dinner would have been $31.90++ an adult before you even got to the fact that the free child does not apply.
Four usable days in the September school holidays
This is where the Monday-to-Thursday rule bites hardest, because the school break is mostly not Monday to Thursday.
The Term 3 break runs Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 September 2026, and Teachers' Day on Friday 4 September is a school holiday too, so most families get ten days off. Only four of them qualify: Monday 7, Tuesday 8, Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 September. The two weekends bracketing the break, and Teachers' Day itself, are all out.
Across the full month there are 18 qualifying dates: 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 September.
One thing that works in your favour this month: Singapore has no public holiday in September 2026, so the terms' public-holiday and public-holiday-eve blackout has nothing to catch. Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Friday 25 September, which is a non-qualifying day anyway. The terms do also exclude unspecified "festivals", so name the date when you book rather than assuming.
The 10-year-old trap
Typhoon's buffet menu and Typhoon's promotion draw the age line in different places, one year apart, and it is easy to miss.
- The menu prints the child rate as 5 to 10 years old.
- The promotion is "strictly for children below the age of 10 years old", and adds that proof of age may be requested by staff.
A 10-year-old therefore still eats at the child rate, $15.90++ or $18.90++, and cannot be the free seat. If you are bringing a 10-year-old and a 7-year-old with two adults, you get one free child, not two.
The ratio is fixed rather than open-ended, and there is a floor: 2 paying adults gets 1 free child, 4 paying adults gets 2, with a minimum of 2 paying adults. One parent with one child does not qualify at all.

Where to go and how to book
Typhoon Cafe, Plaza Singapura is the brand's only outlet.
- Address: 68 Orchard Road #04-63/67, Singapore 238839
- Getting there: nearest MRT is Dhoby Ghaut. Take the escalator or lift to level 4, head into The Atrium@Orchard wing, and Typhoon is opposite the customer service counter.
- Restaurant hours: Monday to Sunday, 11.30am to 10pm, last order 9.30pm. Note that the buffet sittings are narrower than the opening hours: lunch seats from 11.30am to 2pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8pm.
- Tel: +65 6884 5423
- Book: the Chope link on Typhoon's reservations page, or WhatsApp +65 8303 1863. Booking is not optional for this deal.
The buffet itself is Taiwanese rather than the usual steamboat: braised pork rice, oyster mee sua with a DIY station at dinner, salt and pepper chicken, three-cup chicken, xiao long bao, braised snacks, Taiwanese fried braised pork intestines and aiyu jelly, with the dinner sitting carrying exclusive dinner-only dishes and a cold brew or Gifel tea included.
Since the promotion is while-stocks-last, needs a booking, and squeezes into 18 days with a four-day window in the school holidays, the 7 to 10 September slots are the ones that will go first.
