> Quick view: Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice opens its first flagship restaurant at Jewel Changi Airport #B2-243 & 244 on Friday 22 August 2026, daily 10am-10pm. 88 packets of the signature chicken rice are given away free on EACH of 22 and 23 August, takeaway only, while stocks last. The 20% off being repeated everywhere was the soft-opening rate for 11-17 August and has ended — from 22 August you pay full price. The limited-edition plush blind box is a purchase-with-purchase: the brand's own artwork reads *"Spend $30 in-store and take home a box for $10.80."* Jewel is landside — no boarding pass needed.

Mdm Foo Kui Lian started Tian Tian at Maxwell Food Centre in 1986. Forty years on, the queue at stalls 10 and 11 is still one of the most reliable in Singapore, and the brand has spent that time expanding very slowly — four more outlets, all of them small. This week it does something it has never done before: a full flagship restaurant, with its own kitchen, its own menu and its own dishes, at Jewel Changi Airport.

It opens properly on Friday 22 August 2026.

What is actually live from 22 August

Free chicken rice, 88 packets a day. On 22 and 23 August, Tian Tian gives away 88 packets of its signature Hainanese chicken rice — normally about $11 — on each of the two days. It is takeaway only and runs while stocks last.

The brand has not published a start time for the giveaway, and 88 is not a large number for a Friday at Jewel. Treat it as a queue you might win, not an outing you can plan. The shop itself opens at 10am.

The blind box. From 22 August the Jewel outlet carries The Tian Tian Blind Box Series, a limited-edition plush keychain collection. Reading the brand's own artwork rather than the write-ups, there are four designs total: Chopping Board, Chicken, Chilli Bowl, and one Secret Edition — the fourth is undisclosed, not a fixed fourth character as some round-ups have it.

And it is not a gift. The poster says it plainly: "PWP — Purchase-With-Purchase. Spend $30 in-store and take home a box for $10.80." Reported prices for a full set of four circulate at figures that do not reconcile with that printed unit price, so if you are collecting, ask at the counter before you commit.

The thing the round-ups have wrong

Almost every listing of this opening leads with 20% off. That was the soft-opening rate, and it ran 11-17 August 2026 only — it expired five days before the restaurant officially opened. If you turn up on 22 August expecting a discount on your meal, there isn't one. The opening perks are the free packets and the blind box, and nothing else.

The quiet reason to bookmark this outlet

This is the part nobody has written up, and it comes straight off Tian Tian's own outlets page.

Jewel is the only Tian Tian open every day, and the only one open past 8pm.

So from 22 August, a Monday plate of Tian Tian — or any plate after 8pm — exists in exactly one place in Singapore. For a brand whose original stall famously stops when the chicken runs out, a 10pm closing is the genuinely new thing here, more than any opening-week freebie.

Fine print worth knowing

  • Landside. Jewel sits outside immigration and is open to the public. No boarding pass, no ticket. Basement 2.
  • Getting there. Changi Airport MRT (East-West Line) opens into Terminal 2; Jewel is a short covered walk.
  • Takeaway only for the free chicken rice, so you do not need a table to claim it.
  • Menu prices are the restaurant's own, not hawker prices — this is a sit-down flagship, and it carries dishes the stalls do not.
  • Reported Jewel-exclusive dishes include Mdm Foo's Steamed Chicken Curry, Crystal Chicken Feet, the Tian Tian Heritage Platter (sized for 2-3) and Nanyang Golden Chicken. Prices quoted in the trade press sit roughly between $9.80 and $26.80, but Tian Tian does not publish this menu on its own website, so confirm at the restaurant.

Should you go on opening day?

If you want the free packet, yes — early, and expect a queue. If you just want to eat there, go later. Opening weekend at a Jewel unit is the worst version of any restaurant, and the flagship's real advantage — Mondays and late nights — is available every week after this one, with no queue attached.
