Le Creuset is best known for its enamelled cast iron French ovens and casseroles, and Suntec's event listing says the sale also covers stoneware baking dishes, mugs and kitchen accessories. Full-price pieces are not cheap: a 22cm Signature Round French Oven usually sells for around $749 at department stores, which is why a family sale draws queues.
What we know about the discounts
- "Up to 80%" is a ceiling. Le Creuset's post says up to 80% off "your Le Creuset favourites", and its poster adds T&Cs apply and while stocks last. Expect a range of markdowns, not 80% on everything.
- No prices are published. Neither Le Creuset nor Suntec listed sale prices in advance, so you will only see them on the floor.
- Multi-buy extras. Event listings report an extra 5% off three or more items and 8% off six or more on one receipt, and a separate extra 10% for completing a survey that cannot be stacked with the other two. These are not in Le Creuset's own posts, so ask before you pay.
The fine print
- Selected items only, while stocks last. Popular colours and the most-used sizes (20cm to 26cm rounds) tend to go first.
- All sales final. Event listings say there are no refunds, exchanges or returns, so check enamel, lids and knobs for chips before paying.
- It is heavy. A cast iron French oven weighs 3kg to 6kg. Paper bags are reportedly provided, but a foldable trolley makes the walk to the MRT much easier.
- Billed as the last one. Le Creuset calls this its "Last Family Sale in Singapore", so do not count on another chance soon.
Tips
- Go Friday morning. Doors open at 10.30am, and weekday crowds are thinner than Saturday's.
- Know your hob. Le Creuset cast iron works on gas, ceramic and induction, but check the base size against your largest induction zone before buying a big oval.
- Pool with friends. If the 3-item and 6-item extras apply, one combined receipt gets the bigger cut.
- Getting there: Esplanade or Promenade MRT (Circle Line) are the closest, or walk through CityLink from City Hall. Take the escalators to Level 3 of the convention centre.
