The free yuu bag
From Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 October, the first 300 customers each day who spend at least $50 nett in a single receipt get a free yuu reusable bag. Only purchases from 11am count, and it runs while stocks last.
How the prices compare
Eggs: FairPrice has capped its Dasoon 30-egg tray at $4.95 to 31 December, so Giant's $4.85 is 10 cents cheaper for four days. Shine Muscat: Giant's Korean pack works out to $1.31 per 100g. FairPrice Online lists a 450g Korean pack at $7.95 this week, about $1.77 per 100g. The Chinese Shine Muscat at FairPrice is far cheaper ($2.95 for 500g), so check the origin before you compare. Coca-Cola: FairPrice Online sells 12 cans of Coke Zero for $11.40, so Giant's 24 for $10.95 is roughly half price. Every can now carries a 10-cent BCRS deposit, which you get back at a return machine.
The fine print
- Tampines Hypermarket only. Other Giant stores run the regular weekly Super Savings.
- Fresh deals end Sunday 18 October. Prawns, salmon and eggs are four days only.
- Eggs: maximum 2 trays per customer per transaction.
- Free bag: first 300 a day, $50 nett in one receipt, purchases from 11am, 15-18 Oct.
- While stocks last. Giant notes that availability differs from store to store and prices are correct at the time of printing.
Tips
- Go on Saturday 17 or Sunday 18 October with a DBS/POSB debit card. Giant's weekend card deal gives $8 off $80 at Tampines Hypermarket and IMM (Passion POSB Debit, DBS Visa Debit or POSB Everyday Card) to 25 October, and the fresh deals are still on.
- CHAS cardholders get 6% off at every Giant store through 30 October.
- Spending $18 on Clorox at this store or IMM gets a free ceramic pot through 31 October.
- Arrive after 11am for the bag, but not too late: 300 bags a day goes fast on a weekend.
- Bring a cooler bag if you are buying the salmon or prawns. IKEA Tampines next door is an easy lunch stop.
