ActiveSG prices its badminton courts by facility type rather than location, so the rate is identical whether you book at Bukit Canberra, Our Tampines Hub or a sport hall in Jurong: $3.50 PER HOUR PER COURT NON-PEAK and $7.40 PEAK for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, against a standard rate of $4.60 and $9.70 for everyone else. PEAK IS DEFINED TIGHTLY AND IT MATTERS: 6pm to 10pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 10pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays — everything from 7am to 6pm on a weekday is non-peak, which is where the $3.50 lives. ActiveSG also opens up SCHOOL HALLS and an NUS hall for badminton, but those are peak-only bookings at $7.40 (SC/PR) or $9.70 standard, with no non-peak rate at all. THE LIMIT NOBODY MENTIONS UNTIL YOU HIT IT: badminton carries an individual booking quota of TWO SLOTS PER DAY PER USER regardless of timing, so a group that wants a three-hour block needs more than one account. At 1 Lorong 23 Geylang, SBH runs 16 badminton courts split into two graded halls, and the grade is the price. DELUXE (COURTS D1-D8): $12/hr on weekdays from 8am to 6pm, then $24/hr from 6pm right through to 2am, and $24/hr all day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 6am. PREMIER (COURTS P1-P8): $16/hr on weekdays 7am-6pm, then a distinct SUPER PEAK band of $32/hr from 6pm to 10pm, dropping back to $28/hr from 10pm to 2am and $28/hr at weekends and public holidays. Worth knowing before you book: the hall map shows eight Premier courts, P1 to P8, but the published rate table is headed P1-P6 — so confirm the rate for P7 and P8 when you book. THE EXTRAS: a brand-new VIP hall with four exclusive air-conditioned courts for private sessions and corporate events, a Li-Ning pro shop, cafeteria, changing rooms and lockers, and four new futsal courts in the same extension. THE BEST PLAYING SURFACE IN THIS GUIDE, AND THE CHEAPEST PRIVATE COURT IN SINGAPORE — TWO CLAIMS THAT ARE NOT USUALLY TRUE OF THE SAME VENUE. Smash Arena sits at 511 Upper Jurong Road, in the D'Arena Country Club, Block B Level 2, and it is laid with 9MM GERFLOR TARAFLEX, the thickest badminton flooring on the island and the same specification used at international tournaments, with BWF Grade-1 certified poles and nets. STANDARD DOUBLES COURTS (9 of them, max 8 pax on and off court): $16/hr off-peak, meaning Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm excluding public holidays, and $32/hr peak — Monday to Friday 5pm to 2am, and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 2am. THE PART EVERY OTHER ROUNDUP MISSES: there is also a SUPER SINGLE (SS) COURT, a narrower singles-width court capped at 4 pax, priced at $9/HR OFF-PEAK AND $19/HR PEAK. That $9 is the lowest private-hall rate we found anywhere in Singapore, and for two players hitting singles it is better value than any community club court. PRACTICALITIES: public holidays are charged at the peak rate, minimum booking is one hour, new slots are released at 10pm daily, play runs to 2am, and badminton shoes rent for $5 per pair per session (rackets by WhatsApp, at least 24 hours ahead). THE SCALE OPTION, AND THE CHEAPEST PRIVATE-HALL DAYTIME RATE WE FOUND. Singapore Badminton Hall's East Coast site takes over more than 4,500 square metres at Singapore Expo, Carpark J, and splits into two halls with very different weekend pricing. HALL A (COURTS A1-A10): Monday to Friday, $10/hr from 8am to 6pm, $26/hr from 6pm to 10pm and $24/hr from 10pm to midnight; Saturday and Sunday it is $29/HR — and SBH's own footnote explains why, because that weekend rate is WITH AIRCON. Public holidays are $24/hr all day. HALL B (COURTS B11-B22): the same $10 / $26 / $24 weekday ladder, but Saturday and Sunday are $24/hr, without the aircon premium. So at weekends the two halls sit five dollars apart for the same 60 minutes, and the difference is climate, not court quality — a distinction worth making before you book. THE ARINA SUITE, PROPERLY EXPLAINED: SBH quotes it at FROM $380, and every roundup we checked converts that to '$190 an hour' as if it were one court. It is not. The $380 buys TWO air-conditioned courts for two hours, plus four hours of lounge access (30 minutes before and 90 minutes after your court time), en-suite toilets and showers, and optional karaoke as a top-up — so per court it is closer to $95 an hour, and $380 is a floor, not a flat rate. The OCBC Arena at 5 Stadium Drive, inside the Kallang sports precinct, is where TeamSG's Loh Kean Yew and Yeo Jia Min train, and the courts are spacious and air-conditioned. THE RATES ARE REMARKABLE FOR WHAT YOU GET: $5/HR NON-PEAK and $8/HR PEAK for Singapore Citizens and PRs (valid photo ID required), $6.50 and $13 at the standard rate — cheaper air-conditioned badminton than any private hall on this list. Peak is weekdays 6pm-10pm and 7am-10pm at weekends and public holidays; non-peak is weekdays 7am to 6pm. NOW THE CATCH, WHICH IS NOT ABOUT PRICE AT ALL: the arena operates 7am-10pm daily, but PUBLIC BOOKING HOURS ARE A SMALL SUBSET OF THAT — Monday to Friday only 7-8am, 12-2pm and 8-10pm; Saturday only 12-2pm and 5-10pm; Sunday 7am-10pm. The rest of the day belongs to programmes, athletes and events. Read that against the peak definition and the trap is obvious: the ONLY weekday evening window the public can book, 8-10pm, is priced at peak, while the cheap $5 non-peak rate is reachable on a weekday only from 7-8am or 12-2pm. MOUNT FABER (2 Telok Blangah Way, 6278 6011) and TAMPINES (1/A Tampines Street 92, 6785 8800): $3.90/HR off-peak and $7.40/hr peak for members, GST included — which undercuts even ActiveSG off-peak. TOA PAYOH (293 Toa Payoh Lorong 6, 6259 4000) is the outlier at $7/hr off-peak and $12/hr peak. GUEST ACCESS IS THE REAL RESTRICTION: only Tampines publishes a guest rate ($4.70/hr off-peak); Mount Faber and Toa Payoh are members-only, and ONLINE FACILITY BOOKING IS EXCLUSIVE TO SAFRA MEMBERS, opening one week in advance at 7am daily through mySAFRA. THE HOURS ARE THE STANDOUT: Mount Faber runs Mon-Fri 7am-1am and Sat-Sun/PH from 5am to 1am; Tampines Mon-Fri 7am-1am, Sat-Sun/PH 5am to midnight; and TOA PAYOH GOES TO 3AM ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY (Sun-Thu 7am-1am) — the latest badminton in Singapore by a clear hour, and the reason the dearer Toa Payoh rate can still be the right answer. THE COURT NEAREST YOUR FLAT, AND THE MOST INCONSISTENT PRICING IN SINGAPORE. onePA lists 79 BADMINTON COURT FACILITIES across the island's community clubs, and unlike ActiveSG — which charges the same everywhere — EVERY CC SETS ITS OWN RATE. The spread on the first page of results alone makes the point: BISHAN CC has four courts at $4-$5 an hour, QUEENSTOWN CC is $4-$6.50 for one court, ANCHORVALE CC $5-$7 for two, ANG MO KIO CC and JOO CHIAT CC $5-$8, KOLAM AYER CC $6-$8, NEE SOON SOUTH CC $6-$11 across five courts, HILLVIEW CC a flat $10, ACE THE PLACE CC $4-$12, and KAMPONG GLAM CC $10-$14 for three courts. So the same hour of badminton can cost $4 or $14 depending on which CC you happen to open — and the cheap ones are not always the far ones. WHAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY BOOKING: most CC courts are marked out on a multi-purpose hall floor rather than laid on sprung sports flooring, often in front of a stage, and the ceiling height and lighting vary a lot from club to club. Book through the onePA website or app with Singpass; filter by date and time to see live availability, and check the individual CC's page for its own peak definition, because that varies too. BEST FOR: casual games close to home, and anyone who will drive or ride two extra stops to save six dollars.

We did not take prices from other roundups, which is how the Arina Suite ended up described as a $190-an-hour court across most of the internet when SBH's own page says $380 buys two courts for two hours plus lounge access.
1. The clock beats the venue. Almost every operator here roughly doubles its rate after 6pm. SBH Sims goes from $12 to $24, Smash Arena from $16 to $32, ActiveSG from $3.50 to $7.40. If you have any flexibility at all, a weekday afternoon is the single biggest saving available.
2. Divide by four before you judge a price. You are renting a court, not a seat. A $32 peak hour at Smash Arena is $8 a head for doubles; a $12 Deluxe court at SBH is $3 each. On that basis the private halls are not expensive — they are roughly the price of a kopi per person.
3. Decide whether you are paying for air. Air-conditioned badminton is a genuine comfort difference in Singapore, and it is priced accordingly: SBH's Expo Hall A charges $5 more than Hall B at weekends purely for the aircon, and the OCBC Arena is the cheapest air-conditioned option at $5-$8 for locals if you can get one of its narrow public windows.
4. Check the surface if you play often. Multi-purpose hall floors — most community clubs, some school halls — are harder on knees and ankles than sprung sports flooring or laid mats. Smash Arena's 9mm Gerflor Taraflex is the thickest on the island; SBH grades its own halls into Deluxe and Premier and charges accordingly.
5. Non-marking shoes are not a suggestion. Every venue here requires them and SBH will remove you from the premises for ignoring it. If you do not own a pair, Smash Arena rents them at $5 per pair per session.

The cheapest air-conditioned badminton on this list is the OCBC Arena at The Kallang, where the halls are air-conditioned as standard and locals pay $5 an hour non-peak and $8 peak — the catch there is availability rather than cost, since public booking is restricted to roughly five hours of a weekday. Singapore Badminton Hall's East Coast site at the Expo prices the aircon explicitly: at weekends Hall A is $29 an hour with aircon while Hall B is $24 without, so the five-dollar gap between two otherwise similar halls is literally the temperature. SBH's Sims hall has also added a VIP hall of four exclusive air-conditioned courts for private and corporate sessions, and its Arina Suite at the Expo is fully air-conditioned, from $380 for two courts for two hours plus lounge access. Community club halls and most ActiveSG sport halls are naturally ventilated, which in practice means ceiling fans and open sides.
Later than most people realise. SAFRA Toa Payoh runs to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays (7am-1am Sunday to Thursday), which is the latest badminton we found on the island, and SAFRA Mount Faber and Tampines both run to 1am on weekdays with 5am weekend openings. Two private halls go to 2am: Singapore Badminton Hall @ Sims, where midnight slots are booked as the following day's 12am-2am rather than tonight's, and Smash Arena out at Upper Jurong Road, which releases new slots at 10pm daily. SBH's East Coast site at the Expo is the earlier of the two SBH halls, closing at midnight with patrons required to leave by 12.15am when the lights and doors shut. At the other end, the OCBC Arena closes at 10pm, and ActiveSG and community club hours vary by centre. If your game regularly starts after midnight, SAFRA Toa Payoh and the two 2am halls are effectively the entire market.
