Bari Bari Grand opened at the Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski on Tuesday 1 September 2026, and the brand put its opening offer on its own Facebook page before the doors opened: 1-for-1 teppan and 30% off Miyazaki Wagyu, for five days only.

Two offers, not one

The brand's post reads as a single promotion, but it is really two, and they behave very differently.

The 1-for-1 covers, in the brand's own words, the Australian Angus Sirloin, the Wagyu Hamburg and selected Other Proteins Teppan. That is the cheaper half of the menu, and it halves the per-person cost because the second plate is free.

The 30% applies to exactly one cut, the 150g Miyazaki Wagyu Zabuton. That is a single-plate discount. Two people ordering it pay the discount twice.

Here is what that means in money, using the prices on Bari Bari Grand's own published menu.

So the 1-for-1 is the better rate by a wide margin, and the wagyu discount is the better plate. Pick on which of those you came for, not on which percentage looks larger. These are menu prices, so add GST and any service charge on top.

The rule that makes the 1-for-1 worth using

Printed at the foot of every page of the Grand menu is a line most people will skip: all customers above the age of 10 are required to order at least one main course (teppan) per person.

Read that alongside the offer and it stops being a restriction. A table of two was always going to buy two teppans. The 1-for-1 means one of them is free. A table of four buys four and pays for two.

Where it does bite is an odd number. Three diners means two paid mains and one free, so the third person pays full price, and there is no way around it if everyone is over ten.

What is not in the 1-for-1

This is the part worth getting right before you sit down.

  1. The Miyazaki Wagyu teppans are not in it. The Grand menu's A4/A5 section prices the Zabuton and the Sirloin at $68, the Ribeye Round at $75 and the Rib Cap at $88. Only the Zabuton gets a discount, and it is the 30% rather than a 1-for-1.
  2. The other Steak Teppans are out, per launch coverage of the opening. On the published menu that means the Angus Flank at $29 and $32, the Angus Oyster Blade at $35 and $38, and the Angus Saikoro at $29 and $32.
  3. Lobster and Lobster Combo items are excluded, per the same coverage.
  4. Only selected Other Proteins teppans are in. That section holds the Hokkaido Pork Oroshi Ponzu and Hokkaido Pork Totenki at $29 each, and the Classic, Teriyaki and Nanban whole chicken thighs at $25, $26 and $27. The word *selected* is the brand's, so confirm which ones at the counter.
  5. The free dish is of equal or lesser value, which is the usual mechanic and is how the coverage describes it. Ordering a $39 sirloin and a $25 chicken thigh gives away the chicken, not the steak.

What comes with the plate

Every teppan at Bari Bari Grand includes the free-flow Gourmet Bar, which the restaurant describes on its own page as a rotating selection of fresh salads, seasonal appetisers, Japanese-inspired delicacies and chef-crafted bites, with dessert and rice. The menu adds that each teppan is plated with truffle mashed potatoes, cherry tomatoes, brussels sprouts and pearl corn, and offers five dips at the bar: signature Bari Bari sauce, Miyazaki yakiniku sauce, premium Okinawa salt, yuzu onion sauce and wasabi sauce.

That inclusion is the reason a $19.50 share of a sirloin is a real meal rather than a steak on a plate. Each teppan also arrives with a hot stone pellet heated to around 300°C, so you finish the doneness at the table, and steaks come out medium-rare with a house herb butter.

This is the Capitol restaurant only

Worth stating plainly, because the names are close. Bari Bari Grand is the new restaurant at 15 Stamford Road, #01-82, about a minute from City Hall MRT, open 11am to 10pm.

Bari Bari Steak is the existing chain, and its own locations page lists five outlets: 313@somerset, Tampines 1, Junction 8, VivoCity and Great World. None of them are in this promotion. Both are concepts by EN Group.

The five Bari Bari Steak outlets do run their own standing offers, published on the brand's promotions page: a $12.90++ free-flow salad bar (U.P. $16.90++) Monday to Thursday, all day at Tampines 1 and VivoCity and from 2pm to 5pm at Junction 8 and Great World; a 20% senior discount at Tampines 1 for diners aged 60 and above, Monday to Thursday until 5pm excluding public holidays; and a 15% early bird between 5pm and 6pm daily, also at Tampines 1. The same page lists a 1-for-1 on highballs, beers, sake, cocktails and house pours.

Fine print worth knowing

  1. 1 to 5 September 2026 only. The brand's post calls it the promo window and gives no extension.
  2. Dine-in only, while stocks last, per launch coverage of the opening.
  3. The complimentary dish is of equal or lesser value.
  4. Everyone above the age of 10 must order at least one teppan, per the menu's own terms on every page.
  5. Menu prices are what this article quotes. Add GST and any service charge.
  6. Reservations are not mentioned in the offer. A new opening at City Hall over the first week of the 5 to 13 September school break is worth arriving early for rather than at 7pm on the Friday it ends.
