> Quick view: from 12 October 2026, COVID-19 vaccination becomes part of Singapore's routine national immunisation schedules, and updated XFG Moderna/Spikevax and XFG Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccines roll out at more than 600 GP clinics, all polyclinics and Mobile Vaccination Team (MVT) sites. It is recommended for people aged 60 and above, medically vulnerable people aged 6 months and above, and residents of aged care facilities. It stays fully subsidised for eligible residents at participating sites, until further review.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) announced the change on 7 October 2026. COVID-19 vaccination has been offered under the National Vaccination Programme since 2020. From 12 October it moves into the same schedules that already cover jabs like influenza and pneumococcal, which MOH says is to keep the vaccine "accessible and affordable" as COVID-19 continues to circulate.

Who MOH recommends it for

The recommended groups under the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule (NCIS) and National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS) are:

  • People aged 60 and above
  • Medically vulnerable people aged 6 months and above
  • Residents of aged care facilities

For children, that means COVID-19 vaccination is recommended under the NCIS only for those with certain medical conditions that put them at greater risk.

MOH also encourages healthcare workers, and anyone living or working with medically vulnerable people, to get vaccinated to protect those around them. Anyone else aged 6 months and above who wants the vaccine may continue to take it.

How many doses, and when

Your situationWhat MOH advises
Never vaccinated, aged 6 months to 4 yearsTwo doses, eight weeks apart
Never vaccinated, aged 5 and aboveOne dose
Vaccinated before, aged 6 months and aboveOne additional dose around one year after your last dose, and at least five months after it

Your last dose date is in the HealthHub app, so check it before you book. If your last jab was less than five months ago, you are not due yet.

Which vaccine, from which date

The updated XFG formulations are approved by the Health Sciences Authority. MOH says they give better protection against current and emerging strains, with safety profiles comparable to earlier versions. Every site giving Moderna or Pfizer switches over on this timeline:

FromUpdated vaccineAge group
12 October 2026Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty12 years and above
12 October 2026Moderna/Spikevax6 months and above
2 November 2026Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty6 months to 11 years

So a parent who wants the updated jab for a young child before November has one option: Moderna.

What it costs

$0 for most residents, at the right clinic. MOH says COVID-19 vaccination continues to be fully subsidised for Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, Long Term Pass Holders and certain Short Term Pass Holders at participating CHAS GP clinics, polyclinics and MVT sites, "until further review".

Two consequences follow from that wording:

  • MediSave does not apply. Because the jab is already fully subsidised, it cannot be claimed under MediSave 500/700, or under the MediSave Chronic and Preventive Care scheme starting 1 January 2027, until further review.
  • The subsidy is tied to participating sites. The statement covers participating CHAS GPs, polyclinics and MVT sites. If you go somewhere else, ask about charges first.

This is unlike the flu jab, which has a co-payment of $0 to $35 depending on your card. That difference is worth knowing if you are planning both this month.

Where to book

  • GP clinics (600+): book at vaccine.gov.sg/covid. MOH asks you to call the clinic to confirm it has the vaccine before you visit.
  • Polyclinics: book through HealthHub.
  • Healthier SG enrollees: MOH encourages you to go to your enrolled clinic, if it offers COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Mobile Vaccination Teams: these go out to seniors and aged care facilities. The schedule is at go.gov.sg/mvt-s.

What to do this week

  1. If you or a parent is 60 or above, open HealthHub and check the date of the last COVID-19 dose. If it was a year ago or more, book from 12 October.
  2. If you are also due a flu jab, the 2026-2027 northern hemisphere flu vaccine was expected in early to mid October. Ask your clinic whether both can be done on the same visit.
  3. For a child aged 6 months to 11 years who needs Pfizer specifically, wait for 2 November.

Fine print

  • The recommendations, dose intervals and dates above are from MOH's media release of 7 October 2026. The full updated NCIS and NAIS are in MOH's annexes.
  • "Fully subsidised" and the MediSave exclusion both apply "until further review", so they can change.
  • Vaccine availability varies by clinic. Call ahead.
