Takashimaya is turning its basement event hall into a two-week Japan showcase for SJ60, the 60th anniversary of Singapore-Japan diplomatic relations (1966-2026). For shoppers the useful part is small but real: a WhatsApp stamp rally that ends in a $10 voucher with no minimum spend.

What's on
Takashimaya's event page describes a "special event filled with Japanese products, cultural experiences and exciting activities", built around the theme of clothing, food and living, with some Singapore-born brands inspired by Japan mixed in. Its poster groups the participating brands by department:

Takashimaya has not published item prices or brand-by-brand discounts, so treat it as a browsing event with one guaranteed perk rather than a sale.
The $10 stamp rally
This runs Wednesday 30 September to Sunday 4 October 2026 only, per Takashimaya's event page and its updated rally poster.
- Follow Takashimaya on Facebook or Instagram. The first stamp location is revealed daily there.
- Scan the QR code at that brand counter with your phone camera. It opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message such as "SJ60 Stamp 1". Hit send.
- Get your stamp and a clue. The WhatsApp reply confirms stamp 1 and hints at where stamp 2 is.
- Collect stamp 2 and redeem. Two stamps unlock a $10 SJ60 event voucher, no minimum spend. Show your "golden ticket" at the SJ60 event cashier counter.
Stage programme, Sat 3 and Sun 4 Oct
- Opening performance, Saturday 3 October, by Mikazuki Dance Group and Yosakoi Shisai (a local and Japanese fusion set by BYST). One Takashimaya poster lists it at 11am-12pm, another says the activities run from 12pm, so arrive before 11am if you want to catch it.
- Meet-and-greet with the Singapore women's national football team and its Japanese head coach Mihoko Ishida, 12pm-2pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
- Hosted by bilingual emcee Misa Miyagawa.
The fine print
- The voucher is for the SJ60 event. It is redeemed at the SJ60 cashier counters, so plan to spend it at B2, not elsewhere in the store.
- T&Cs apply and are not online. Ask at the cashier whether there is a limit per person or per phone number, and how long the voucher stays valid.
- You need WhatsApp and mobile data in the basement. If signal is weak at B2, move closer to the escalators before sending.
- One poster version printed the wrong end date ("Sun 3 Oct"). Takashimaya's page and its corrected poster both say Sunday 4 October, which is the actual Sunday.
- Stock is whatever each brand brings. Anniversary items and exclusives (CNA reports Tamagotchi and Ultraman items from Bandai, and a Sanrio range with Singlish twists) tend to go first.
Tips
- Go on Wednesday 30 Sep or Thursday 1 Oct for the rally. You get the voucher without the weekend crowds and the best pick of exclusives.
- Weekend plan: time a Saturday or Sunday visit for 12pm-2pm if your kids play football, and do the rally while you are there.
- Use the $10 on food. It goes furthest on a dango set, a matcha item or a small wagyu purchase, and you can top up.
