Dessert plan, sorted for the week: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is running 1-for-1 on its Chocolate of a Thousand Leaves Sliced Cake — buy one slice, the second is free — from today, Monday 17 August, through Friday 21 August 2026. Five weekdays, then it's done.
> Quick view: 1-for-1 Chocolate of a Thousand Leaves sliced cake · Mon 17 – Fri 21 Aug 2026 · in-stores only, no delivery or app ordering · selected outlets (store exclusions apply) · while stocks last · slice price not published — check the counter menu.
The cake
Chocolate of a Thousand Leaves is CBTL's long-running signature and one of its steadiest topsellers. The name is the giveaway: it's built from many thin layers, alternating chocolate sponge with chocolate cream, so a forkful gives you crisp against creamy instead of one uniform texture. The top is finished with a matte dusting of cocoa rather than a glossy ganache, which keeps it on the rich side rather than the sweet side.
That richness is the reason the 1-for-1 is genuinely useful rather than just generous — a slice splits comfortably between two people, so two slices across a table is a proper dessert for four, not a challenge.
The fine print
- In-stores only — this one isn't on delivery platforms and isn't an app pre-order. You have to walk in.
- Selected outlets — CBTL's own wording is that store exclusions and other terms apply, and the excluded list isn't published. Call ahead rather than making a special trip.
- While stocks last — cake counters sell down through the day, so mornings and early afternoons are safer, especially on 20–21 August as the run closes.
- Five weekdays only — 17 to 21 August 2026, Monday to Friday. There's no weekend on this one.
- Price isn't published. Neither the campaign post nor the website lists the slice's current a-la-carte price — check the counter menu when you order.
The other half of the campaign: 50% off the whole cake
Running alongside the slice deal, CBTL has the 6-inch Chocolate of a Thousand Leaves whole cake at 50% off, on a longer window — 17 to 30 August 2026. Two differences matter:
- It's a pre-order, not a grab-and-go, so it needs planning rather than a lunchtime detour.
- CBTL's product page lists the cake from S$55, so half off is a far bigger absolute saving than a free slice — *if* you actually need a whole cake.
One practical constraint before you commit: CBTL asks that whole cakes be refrigerated within an hour of collection and eaten within 2 days. The 6-inch is worth it if you have a gathering to bring it to, and awkward if you don't.
Tips
- Ring the outlet first. With store exclusions unpublished and stocks finite, one phone call saves a wasted trip — this is the single highest-value thing you can do with this deal.
- Go earlier in the day, and earlier in the week. Both stock risk and the deadline work against you by Friday afternoon.
- Bring someone. The offer is two slices; the cake is rich. Sharing is the point.
- Check allergens. CBTL notes the cake may contain traces of eggs, dairy, nuts, seeds, wheat and fish.
- Ask about CBTL Rewards. Whether member points still accrue on a 1-for-1 transaction isn't stated in the campaign post — worth asking at the till if you're collecting.
