CIMB Fixed Deposit Now Pays 1.80% p.a. at 12 Months, 21-30 Sep 2026: No Fresh-Funds Rule, but the 1.85% Needs S$250,000 and the Islamic Version Quietly Pays More
CIMB Singapore has lifted its online fixed deposit promotion to 1.80% p.a. on a 12-month placement from S$10,000, up from the 1.70% we recorded on 14 September, with 1.75% at 6 and 9 months. Its own terms put a hard window on it: 21 to 30 September 2026, and your account has to be funded, approved and through every check inside those ten days, or the bank rejects the placement. Two things make it better than most boards this month. There is no fresh-funds condition, so money already sitting at CIMB qualifies. And the Shariah-compliant Why Wait Fixed Deposit-i pays the same 1.80%, upfront, plus a S$88 cash credit for every S$100,000 of fresh funds placed for 12 months by 30 September, which works out to about 1.89% on S$100,000. The headline 1.85% is the Preferred Banking column, and CIMB Preferred starts at S$250,000. The trap sits at maturity: both accounts auto-renew at board rates of 0.30% and 0.10%.

SingFinance's Online Fixed Deposit Pays 1.80% p.a., But Only From $10,000: at $1,000 It Is 1.50%, Its Own Counter Rate Is 0.25%, and HL Bank Matches the 1.80% and Beats It Past 12 Months
Sing Investments & Finance has put 1.80% p.a. on its Fixed Deposit (FD) Online board for fresh funds, and that is the number every listing is repeating. Read SingFinance's own rates page and three things fall out. The 1.80% is a $10,000 rate: put in $1,000 and the same 6-month and 12-month tenors pay 1.50%, so the first $9,000 buys you 0.30 percentage points. The same money placed over the counter instead of through the app earns the board rate, which is 0.25% p.a. at 12 months under $50,000, about a seventh of the online rate on identical funds. And SingFinance's board runs backwards with time: 18 months pays 1.60% and 24 months pays 1.50%, so locking up longer pays you less, while HL Bank's promotion, effective 17 September, matches the 1.80% at 6 and 12 months and then climbs to 1.88% and 2.00%.
